After a little research I found out some interesting things on this guy. First, he plays at Whitney Young, which is LOADED with D-I prospects, one of them is the son of the greatest man to play the game, that would be MJ's son Marcus Jordan. Also i hear he is an inside guy, not a wing, still not much stuff on him but it appeared that his stock shot up at camps this year it looks like judging by all the camp results I've read his name in.

An article from rivals about Stan Brown:

The Mac Irvin Fire won big games because of the play of it's stars and the production of guys like Stan Brown, a 6-foot-8 dirty work post player. He quietly made big plays in big games when he needed to. Brown said he played well last week in Houston and heard from Howard, Iowa, Indiana State and Clemson after the event. He played well again in Akron and should see his list continue to grow.

We have learned via a most reliable Chicago source that 6'7 power forward Stan Brown from Whitney Young High School in Chicago, IL has verbally committed to Head Coach Steve Roccaforte and the Lamar University Cardinals. Brown is listed as one of our top unsigned Class of 2009 big men in the State of Illinois, and his improvement over the past spring and summer has been remarkable.

Not only has he worked hard, but Brown has added versatility to his offensive game, as well as much upper body physical strength. We have been impressed with Brown's improving face-up game, rebounding prowess, and open court athleticism everywhere we have seen him this past spring and summer. Most significant was Brown's performance at the NY2LA Invitational in Milwaukee in early July, playing for the Mac Irvin Illinois Fire. Brown held his own against some quality big kids and became much more of an offensive force. Brown also looked good at both the King James Classic in Akron, Ohio and the Bill Hensley Memorial Spiece Classic in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in the spring.

Brown sited the opportunity to play for a university with good academics, as well as a basketball program picked 2nd in their division of the Southland Conference as major factors in his decision. Lamar also needs immediate help up front after graduation losses this following season, and Brown is the type of athletic big man with oozing offensive potential that the Cardinal program covets. He is also the long defensive presence that can disrupt opposing post games. Brown was also impressed with the campus and facilities, and felt that his playing time at Lamar would allow the best chance for his quickest development as a player.

Brown chose Lamar over scholarship offers from Illinois-Chicago, Indiana State, and Howard, but the chance to get away from home and attend a university that can make the NCAA Tournament was also an important consideration.

This kid might be a steal.

I think it is safe to say he is. He plays on a loaded Illinois team, one of the best in the state, and he starts. Of course, Illinois is a good bball state too.

More scouting reports:

From the 2008 University of Illinois team camp:

Stanford Brown 6’6†PF 2009 Whitney Young – Brown needs to add some bulk to his frame but definitely held his own inside.  He can rebound, block shots, and finish.  He had good footwork and ran the floor very well.
