HOW ABOUT LINEMEN??

Chris Reed from SFA was the most athletic big man I ever saw at the HS level. Wasted potential. 6'4" 280 lbs and could run in the 4.6 range in the 40. Had offers from every major program in the country, but had to go JC for grades. Went to Navarro JC in Corsicana and got into some trouble. I heard he went to an NFL camp, but ??. Anyone who saw him in HS can validate that he was incredible.

Those linemen on that Hemphill team were beasts. I thought I was at a college game when I saw those guys! Unbelievable at a 2A school in the sticks!

I played against Hemphill when some of the beasts were there.  They were huge.  Chris Reed was a waste.  Probably the best pure athlete that size to ever come out of setx.  I saw him win the 100 meter dash at the Barbers Hill track meet when I was a freshman in high school.

for west hardin's offensive and defensive line we did pretty dang good for the fact that besides our center our biggest lineman was 185 lbs. and the smallest starting (me) was 145 lbs.  with a line that small you would think we wouldn't have done anything at all  but that just shows that teamwork and experince is more important than lone size and skill

The entire starting line of the graduating class of 01 from Hemphill.  All of them went to college.  Four of them went division one.  The best of them was Big Ben Wilkerson, that played for LSU then went to I believe the chargers and is now in Atlanta.

haha i went to his draft party in hemphill awhile back he's a beast but he got drafted by the bengals dont have any info on him now

    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
    • SEC fan bases before Texas got there: “The horns aren’t ready for this. Every week is a battle.” SEC fan bases after Texas arrived: “Texas has the easiest SEC schedule ever!” SEC fan bases after every one of their teams has lost to one or more SEC teams from the bottom half of the standings, many of whom Texas beat comfortably: 🤐
