obcowboy Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Anyone ever played there or seen a game there? My brother said the field sucked. Now that suprised me considering it's in Katy and they got that big money.

Titletown2 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 I was there on the sidelines when WOS lost to Wimberly and that was the worst field turf I've seen. It was worn and not soft, like say Moorehead Stadium in Conroe. However, the rest of the stadium is very nice. Maybe they've replaced that truf.
BMTSoulja1 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 A lot of teams use the artificial grassy turf. I see that Rhodes stadium uses that old Astro Turf. It hear it's like playing on cement with a thin carpet over it...

Ohh well, Gotta roll with it. If Katy can play on it, so can we. Gotta grab those volleyball kneepads...
rmac Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 It is the old style Astro turf and it is glued to cement. The good news is that it is extremely fast to run on.

MrUmp1 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Katy does have field turf not the old astro turf. That stuff was taken out a few years ago. I've seen quite a few games there over the years and been on the field,( not playing but walking) and I have never heard a complaint from coaches or players.
bruinfan2006 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 They have metal detectors @ each gate
obcowboy Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 From what I understand...there'll be a lot of rug burns in store for both teams!
obcowboy Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 Hey Coop, I hear we're gonna have a cold front come in for the game....that should make that turf feel like we're playing on concrete!

CSI-Texas Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Rhodes stadium is just as good as any other stadium. Same playing surface as Moorehead, Dayton, Crosby, etc. It is a very nice stadium.

BigWolf10 Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Astro Turf surface, Two running teams, whoa. All we need is a dry surface. Them Jags gonna be quick on that surface.
