BLUEDOVE3 Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 lamar was flat last night.seemed to be looking ahead to kentucky.i agree with what others here are saying.we need harper and nwevo back, custer isnt gonna get the job done.we also are gonna need hall to establish himself as a dependable scorer.im starting to wonder if thats going to happen.overall it was a good trip and liked the new gym.i didnt see where they spend 23mil but it was an improvement. That kid Hall, I remember him getting all the props in high school. I've never seen him play until this season. I didn't know he was hurt but I was noticing he looked a little slow. But I didn't know he was injured. The jury is still out on this kid. He may have been a big (in size)kid in high school and was able to "school" others at that level. But at his level, everybody has the same speed, height, etc. So again, the jury is still out.
lamarproud Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 The Rice facility was a complete disappointment other than the scoreboard. Their dance squad was also a disappointment. I guess it is hard to find the combination of perfect SAT, dance skills and hotness. However, I saw some things I really liked during the game. Jay Brown is going to be the player we were hoping he would be last year. Worrell is meeting my expectations as a hadworking player with a soft touch from 10 ft. and in. Skylar Williams is a helluva defensive player and rebounder for his size. His offensive skills are still a question mark. However, he gave us much more energy and quickness than Hall has provided. Miles was not a factor last night, but I think that was partially due to the performance of Williams. I felt like our best lineup was Dawkins, McThay, Williams, Worrell and Brown. I'm pulling for Hall and Custer to make big improvements, but I'm not convinced it will happen. I'd love to see Nwevo healthy, but he doesn't appear to be improving. Dawkins had a subpar night, but he is still the best player on the team. Finally, the beer at Buffalo Wild Wings in the Rice Village was ice cold just the way I like it.

I'm curious, I can appreciate you saying you are pulling for Hall, but what is it you are seeing that makes you not convinced Hall will get better? Are we possibly seeing the same thing?
BIGREDFAN2 Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 1. Lamar played pretty badly and were lucky to escape with a win. 2. Brown and Worrell played tough and saved the team. 3. Lamar played the zone better than they have all season. 4. The high-low offense that Lamar ran during the first 10 minutes of the second half was really efficient and worked well. 5. Rice is a more athletic team than Denver and well-coached, but they're still not very good. 6. Rice should investigate whoever remodeled their court, because they must have taken half their money. It's not bad, but for the same money they could have built the Merrell Center from scratch. It's not nearly as nice as the Merrell Center. It is loud and if Rice ever puts a decent team on the floor, it'll be a fun place to watch a game. 7. For a team of Rice's quality, the tickets definitely shouldn't be $18. I agree with a lot said here and with what some others have posted. We have a lot of work to do, and we need to get well. This is a photo of the scoreboard/no score board. I did not like not having the score over the court. The biggest enjoyment of the big screen tv was watching the people during time outs as time fillers. There were a few replays though. The price of tickets were a bid steep. We asked for seats behind the team and got seats behind the team up high non padded seats.
