KFDM COOP Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Added game since Leggett didn't show.
cma123 Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 The Spurger Pirates played well w/ the 3A Cleveland Indians in Cleveland tonight Whittaker 25 McGallion15 Blankship 10, would have been 12, if they would have counted the buzzer better. Then the score would have been 64/58 Great job guys, keep working hard!!!
Guest ghostt Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 CONGRATS SPURGER THATS A BIG SCHOOL
sports talk Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 Congrats Spurger, even thou it was a "L", Clevelands a much larger school, playing schools like this will only help come district 8)
court side Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 Did a great job boys I think Coach Isaacs has the boys seeing things his way and i think the guys are getting the new system down, but they are still a few games away from hitting on all cylinders. :)
whsalum Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 They'll have some growing pains but they'll be fine in the long run. There is a huge difference in playing at 7 vs 5:30 or watching a talented senior club from the bench.Give em a little time to develop and they will turn some heads.

What does "There is a huge difference in playing at 7 vs 5:30 or watching a talented senior club from the bench"?
whsalum Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 It simply means a lot of the kids who are going to lead this club were not on the floor last year. The majority of the time they were watching from the sideline. And several were playing the early game on the JV club. This club will develope but they are very young and will have some growing pains. They need to be patient because it's easy for a young club to get down on themselves.
court side Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 4 of the starters played varsity last year. 2 were starters by district/playoff play (Whittaker & McGallion). Only 1 was JV last year, which is a senior this year. Yes Spurger is not the same team from last year, they may have some growing pains, and they are young, starters include: 2 sophmores, 1 junior, 2 seniors, and @ this time the 2 sophmores are leading this team If they keep playing like they played against Cleveland and keep improving as I have seen them doing, they'll be just fine!!! 8) Leaders/Stats from the Cleveland game Whittaker was up against a player that was atleast 6'5" and out weighed him by 50ish lbs. He handled him well 25 pts, 15 rebounds, 7 blocks Mcgallion 15 pts, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals Blankenship 10 pts
whsalum Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I think we're saying the same thing in a different language court.I'm just trying to caution some of the Spurger faithful about setting their expectations to high for a young club.I watch Spurger as often as I can when they are playing pretty good teams and know sometimes their fans can be pretty hard on em.It will be tough for them to get back to the regional tournament this year but they are headed in the right direction.
