KFDM COOP Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Lady Bears throttle Deweyville Van Wade The Orange Leader LITTLE CYPRESS — Jumping out to a 21-5 lead at the end of the first period, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears never looked back Tuesday at the Bear Cave as they ran past the Deweyville Lady Pirates 81-31 in non-district hoop action. LC-M (5-3) forced Deweyville (3-4) into 36 turnovers,11 in the decisive first period. Guard Ellen Williams led a well-balanced LC-M attack, finishing with 15 points. Post Maci Wilcox had her best game of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing a team-high six rebounds. Posts Tayler Thompson and Shelby Apperson each had nine points and four rebounds. Hailey Christian had eight points while Amber Soileau and Katie Harrell added six points apiece. Marley Moss led the Lady Pirates with 12 points, 10 of them coming in the third period. Forward Alaina Gibson threw in eight points while guard Amanda Vincent had seven points and a game-high seven rebounds. The Lady Bears held a 27-19 rebounding edge. LC-M finished with just 13 turnovers and went 14-of-21 from the charity stripe. Deweyville went 4-of-11 from the line. LC-M led 43-8 at the half and 68-22 at the end of the third period. The Lady Bears throttled the Buna Lady Cougars 64-37 on Monday night. Williams led the way with 17 points and had three assists. Kalyn Harkness tallied 11 points. Harrell had five rebounds and Christian added four. The Lady Pirates fell to the Evadale Lady Rebels 65-37 Monday. Marley Moss led the Lady Pirates with 11 points.
