Wildfire Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 at 7 40 in the morning two days before thanksgiving a dead deer was found with a hole in his rib cage and all its guts and insides missing the discoverer's claim it was still warm .... my guess these scougors around here are getting more agressive i known they wur around but now they have no predators around here so they are getting more agressive
westend1 Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 More likely a .270 followed up by scavengers.
tvc184 Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 I think if it was a cougar attack then there would be more than a hole in its side with the guts missing. I don't think big cats take down animals by biting a hole in their side.

Better carry around a machetee...or a shot gun!
X Man Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 If it was a cat, they would have ate out a shoulder or hind quarter, before the guts. And, they normally will drag the carcass under a overhanging bush, and cover with leaves or pine needles, before leaving.
SHSTIGER Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Are timber rattlers still protected as they were after they reintroduced a few years ago. Seen quite a few big ones on lease in Chester.
