Guest ST4life Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 Silsbee should win agianst Big Sandy......but you cant over look the home court advantage and more fans that big sandy will have..... I perdict a silsbee win by 10
BSWildcat Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 i agree probably about a 10 pt win for the tigers but you can never count the wildcats out especialy on their home court. same matchup as last year in the championship with silsbee winning 62-41 the wildcats hung in their but silsbee was just to much... and their gonna have to have an answer for little shannon robinson... best of luck to the wildcats....
Guest Old_Army_00 Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 I know that Liberty beat Woodville by 7 in the Consolation final. Anybody know how Kountze did vs New Waverly?
GOT HEART? WE DO Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 Goodrich 64 Jasper 50 /quote]Bailey tried, but without Spikes, he will get doubled everytime, Spikes hurry up and heal from that slight injury, so you two can move the ball.
AggiesAreWe Posted December 6, 2008 Author Report Posted December 6, 2008 Silsbee 77 BS 57 Silsbee had one of their poorest shooting nights tonight. This being their 4th game in 3 days really showed in the Tigers shooting, very dead legged. Big Sandy had the luxury of only playing 3 games. Silsbee won this one based on their relentless pressure, quickness, and depth. Silsbee played all 11 players that suited out ( big man '6"6 Avery Thomas did not play this tournament due to a bruised knee, he will be back next week ) and actually 10 of them saw action before the first quarter was over. Big Sandy really just stuck to 6 players all night and Coach Foster told me after the game that's all he really could confidently put out there against this Tiger team. Silsbee trialed 16-12 with about 2 minutes left in the first quarter but ended the quarter on a 12-0 run to take the lead at the end of one, 24-16. The Tigers opened the 2nd qtr with 5 straight points to extend the run to 17-0 to really put Big Sandy in a hole, down 29-16. Tigers went in at haftime with a 43-31 lead. The second half really showed the Tiger depth advantage over the Wildcats as Silsbee just kept putting the pressure on Big Sandy, actually getting their biggest lead at 77-48. The Wildcats hit three 3 pointers at the end of the game to close the scoring out at 77-57. Congrats Tigers on another Big Sandy tournament title!!
Master T Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Silsbee didn't have their best shooting night but they still dominated that game. Depth, talent, defense, and quickness is what the tigers are really best at. BS just didn't have an answer to Silsbee defense and there were some questionable calls. At one time at the beginning of second half Shannon Robinson took the ball to the hoop and was faking a jump shot and then tried to shoot it #21 of BS was on him and no foul were called at all. DC Stallworth and Pheal Hill likes to take the ball inside but majority of the time they took it inside there were a BS guy there just fouling them and ref just kept overlooking that call. BS has no class and respect for no one they just need to except there lost and learn from it.

Big Sandy is a class program led by a 1st class coach in Kevin Foster. I met Coach Foster last year when I broadcasted a couple of their games, very nice man and very cooperative with me in my broadcasts. I spoke to Kevin and a few of his players before and after the game last night, trust me, they are class people. Your comments are very uncalled for. As for the questionable calls, it went both ways. Yes there were a few no-calls that the Tigers didn't get, but Big Sandy didn't get a few themselves. It definetly wasn't one-sided. Typically an officiating crew may make or don't make a few calls just to keep things flowing. It was obvious who the better team was from all standpoints. Even Coach Foster told me before and after the game that he was glad that his team got to play Silsbee, it would only be good for them down the road. He commented that they would not see a better team the rest of the year, even if they made it back to Austin. The only thing you got right in your comment was that Big Sandy will learn from this loss. The Wildcats do have respect contrary to what you think. You are the one showing no class and respect with these comments. You need to represent our Tigers a little better next time.

Come on AAW...you know you saw how BS basketball players were talking smack during the game. I will admit that thier coach has class act. But the players have a long way to go to show that they have respect. All that talking they were doing and everything now come on.
AggiesAreWe Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 Both teams were talking smack. A couple of our players has cornered the market on that aspect of the game. : You come on. :
AggiesAreWe Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 It should be noted that Silsbee definetly had the tougher route to the championship. There were 5 ranked teams in this tournament, Silsbee, Kountze, New Waverly, Big Sandy, and Goodrich. The Tigers beat Hardin in the opener, then took down 2A #3 New Waverly, then 1A #1 Goodrich, then in the championship 1A #4 Big Sandy on their home court. Silsbee should move up in the rankings from #8. I state SHOULD, but we will see. :
