Guest Jody Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 There are more and more gas stations running this 10% Ethanol mix fuel now and it is VERY damaging to boat motors. The first thing you need to do ASAP is get a fuel water seperator and filter installed on your boat. The Ethanol in the gasoline is causing two major problems that will eventualy affect your outboard: 1st. The Ethanol will break up the residue and solids that have attached themself to your gastank and internal fuel parts (lines, carbs, jets, etc). This is causing major issues with plugged fuel jets and carburators. 2nd. The Ethanol also will cause O-Rigs and rubber valve seats to swell, which will restrict flow and can damage your injectors and carburators. Call your boat mechanic today and see what they reccomend for a good filter. If your running a large tank, I also reccomend the fuel water seperator. Change both at least one tie per year.
