Smackdown Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 TWICE IN ONE NIGHT!!!!! WOW!!!! (From BuckinFootball.com) BALLS TO THE WALL! Proper advances to 3A Division I state championship game in double OT! After a game-tying 36-year field goal on the final play of regulation to tie the game at 24-24 -- after two timeouts by Abilene* Wylie -- Prosper trades TDs with Wylie in the first OT, then falls behind to start the second OT. A 6-yard QB keep gets Prosper within 38-37, and it appears we're headed to a third OT. But after calling timeout, Prosper elects to go for the make-or-break two-point conversion. Nix fakes the pitch, keeps it again, and dives into the end zone for the 39-38 victory. MORE BALLS TO THE WALL! Longview blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead late Saturday night, as Hewitt Midway tied the game at 35-35 with :07 remaining. Midway scored and kicked the extra point on the first possession of overtime. But when the Lobos scored, they went for the win -- and got it as well -- with a two-point conversion for a 43-42 victory and a state semifinal berth.
Hotrodg Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 Add Newton. With ~2 minutes left in the game, trailing 21-18, and faces 4th and goal from the 2 Newton elected to try for a TD instead of a game tying FG. The DF defense stopped Newton and went on to win. The outcome was different than the two above, but the call was equally monumental.
