spinachfarmer Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 not whos going to win but the score..
jake94 Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I do not see a blowout here. Longview will more than likely be the best team that Lake Travis has faced all season long. They have a ton of speed at all positions and are very deep. They have a great running game that can churn out the yards and keep Gilbert off the field if they find success on the ground. I watched them beat Lufkin back during the hurricane IKE evacuation and I came away very impressed. I have never seen Lake Travis and I know that they are good, but let's not forget that Longview was a state semifinalist in 5A last season and their lone loss this season was to a highly ranked 5-A team Allen. This will be a hard fought game. I still think Lake Travis is probably the favorite, but I think it will be very close and it would not shock me if the Lobos won here.
Lightning/Eagle Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Lake Travis 35 Longview 31 This will be a heck of a game.
lobo1982 Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Longview 34-30 in the best ballgame of the year.
rollinac Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 LV will not be the best team LT has seen all year. LT, on the other hand, may be the best team that ANY OF US have ever seen. LV's running back can churn out yards and burn up the clock all day long...won't make a difference. We'll be seeing Gilbert play on Sunday, barring any injury, for years to come. LV is great, LT is AWESOME.

I agree. Until you have seen them play you will not understand how AWESOME they are. LT by more than 3 TD's.
ForeverADog Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Lake Travis 49 Longview  28 No one can stop Gilbert. One of the best players in the country. Plus LT defense is good enough to stop LV a few times for LT to pull away. Can't wait to see Gilbert throwing all those touchdowns in burnt orange in a few years!!!

FW got on the boat on this one...even though you're getting your butt whipped it's almost an honor to watch football played that well.
Guest LTCAVS76 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Cavs 36 (1-2 pt conv) Lobos 13
Backflipper Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Rollinac,, I like it and you are right. It is almost like an honor to get your butt whooped by Lake Travis. They are that good. For years to come and on Sundays, everyone that faced Garret Gilbert in a high school football game will be saying,"he kicked out butt in high school." I remember when I played for Groesbeck and I got hit by Tony Brackens. I followed his career until he retired, just because he left that mark on me. In my dreams I see Garret Gilbert wearing burnt orange and throwing touchdowns to AJ Dugat.
fridaynightlights Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Allen only beat LV by 2 TD's and they are the best team in the state hands down. I think this game will be decided by 7 points or less. Don't underestimate Longview's combo of running the ball well (clock) and a very fast athletic defense.Â
Hawkeye Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 I agree. I really think that the overall team athletecism for LV will be too much for LT. When I think of LV I think of a top notch 5A team. But with that said, LT has beaten top notch 5A teams. So it should be a close game. LV by a field goal.
rollinac Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Cavs 36 (1-2 pt conv) Lobos 13 Good to see LT on the board....bad seeing them on the field (THANK GOD FOR DIVISION II). Allen WAS the best team that LV has seen all year. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll take Lake Travis to beat any team on any field in this state barring UT, TT, ATM, Rice and UH...maybe. I'd be very surprised if they got beat...they're way more athletic than you think, their defense is better than you think, and Gilbert could hit a dime from 50. Kid reminds me of Peyton Manning the way he organizes things at the line.Â
WildcatsRule Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 This should be the best game of the weekend. I'm not sure that Lake Travis has seen this much speed and depth. The Lobo offence cannot be overlooked. The passing game is better than the stats would show (see Denton Guyer). That being said I'm sure that Longview hasn't seen this type of passing attack. They played SS before they were truly on a roll and The Lobos look a little suspect against the pass last week versus the Denton Guyer. Call me a homer. Longview - 31 Lake Travis - 28Â
B.M.F. Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Lake Travis by as much as they want. 8)

Longview - 31 Lake Travis - 28 Sorry man, they have. Their back-up left tackle is 6'7" 320 lbs...they've got a third-string water boy. Please correct me if I'm wrong here LT Fans, they do not have a single player that plays both ways including the second string. They have a good DII college team playing in high school.
Guest LTCAVS76 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 rollinac is right with the exeption of the backup QB also plays receiver and Defense. And that 6'-7" 320 lb 2nd string OL is my son.
WildcatsRule Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Hmm... must be some reason he is the backup.
