I had to highlight it and put the 2A in there just so that everyone on this site will see it!  You guys are right!  AP is a joke!

and I've been preaching this for how many years? ::)

My sentiments are, if you are going to have an all-state team, do the PROPER research and do it right!

It's like last year's 4A team, Dravantti Johnson of Nederland was second team all-district, but garnered 1st team all-state and 4A defensive player of year. You can go back over the years and see this kind of assinine results on the AP teams.

the politics of both the AP and the BCS is ruining football for me!  I have been a die hard high school and college fan for years.  Now im so frustrated with the bcs i dont even want to watch any bowl games.  I have never been a fan of the NFL because of the commercialism.  But I think I am going to start to keeping up with it, at least they have a system that makes sense and you can follow because it is consistant.

First Team All State defensive limeman Kevin Robinson, who actually plays strongside end for WOS, is listed at 5'7" and 160 lbs.  It is really amazing how this young man, so small in stature, totally dominated on defense all year long.  To have 104 tackles from a DE spot is outstanding.  Usually the middle LB leads the team in tackles.  My son is very small defensive end for his little league team, and every Mustang game I took him to this year, I made him focus on #8, because he plays textbook DE.  In the playoff game against Coldspring, one play in particular stood out to me.  This young man took on blocks from a 250+ lineman, and that big 200+ RB, shedded both blocks and dropped the QB for a lost.  He really deserved this all state selection.  Congratulation Kevin, job well done.

If a network of forums like setxsports were to spread across the state beyond East Texas then an All-State team from that network would overwhelm the media polls.  Until then, you are stuck with the press taking initiative to put together the premiere all-star poll in the state...how criminal  :o
