In order to run faster, jump higher you have to get stronger. I am not talking about body builder type workouts either. Strength training and agility is the key to any athletic program. It is essential but a very bad idea before basketball practice.Weight training should be done on different days or after your work is done on the court.

Strength training and agility is the key to any athletic program. For basketball and 12-13 year olds, I can take a jump rope, sit -ups, push-ups and get the same results.
