Guest Luv Ya Blue Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 OK. "why we didnt do better" this year thread NO coaching? Bad refs, the weather, grades, to much travel, injuy's. Or even: the other team was better. But no, none, nada, coach ctiticism Ok.... lets whine
raideroldtimer Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 In L-tow's case it was simple. It seemed like Crosby just wanted it more.
shorttexas1 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 The offense was decent but couldn't come through with TD's in the redzone. The O stalled out too many consecutive drives... Defense would allow late comebacks because they were worn in the second half. Play calling was a factor, stuck to the run too strongly and failed to give the passing game a try!!! Turn-overs were our final doom! Guess who? Central Jaguars.
jake94 Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Poor tackling against running teams and poor positioning by our 2ndary vs. passing teams. Also, at times the OC would get away from what was working and try to throw the ball too much rather than using our 240 lb back that was good for 5 ypc or more.
liltex Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 And some great catches w/exc.pass protection w/great running game as well.Proud of what we accomplished w/the altercation early in the year on defense.Would the 5 made a differance? We can't assume.Make a as_out of u & me.
Guest Ozen Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Who knows why we have all this talent and can't make the playoffs!!
westend1 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Brook needed Dlinemen who could get penetration. No pass rush and very few plays for negative yards. If we had that, Brook could have made some noise this year.

I would add to the poor tackling comment not finishing out the play, we had people trapped in the backfield all year and couldn't finish them off!! (poor pursuit)
footballplayer Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 For West Hardin it was their O-line...way under sized
RustedCutlass Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 We had problems with speed again. (Central and Ozen) And against Nederland the defense acted like they had never seen a deep pass before. We've always had problems with speed, but lack of proper defense against the pass is just inexcusable IMO.
shorttexas1 Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Brok needed to run THAT MAN two plays in a row at the end of the lasrt playoff game to get those last 5 yards.

A for instance is 5 TO's against Ozen and only losing by 7. UGHHHHH or Fumbling against Central and them scooping it up for about an 8 yd TD, missing a field goal and an xtra point an losing by 1. 2 games that we pretty much gave away. Livingston game was a good game with no defense on either side.... And the Big Ned game we just didn't show up.

I like the idea of getting the ball to your playmaker, but don't forget, they went playaction on 3rd down and hit a kid wide open at the 15. Good player who catches that ball 99% of the time. Hard to blame that on the play calling.

Seriously though, we do put the ball down waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too often.
