BH Vs. Cleveland for Gulf Coast Classic Title

If the bracket was so bad, then why were all the games so competitive each round?  People cry too much sometimes.  A lot like the crying Cleveland was doing during the championship game.

ok--Let me try this again. BH has a fine tradition of athletics and academics. In fact my two sons have played on numerous select teams made up of kids primarily from BH---great kids w/great parents. I am NOT anti-Hill. I pull for you folks any time you are not playing us. But............take an objective look at the bracket and it is way out of line:8 teams in the bottom and 5 teams in the top with one of the 5 a JV team and on top of that BH gets a bye---so there are really only BH and TWO teams left by the time BH touches the ball!

Now--it is legal and you can do it----BUT this kind of thing cheapens your tradition and makes the outside folks look at your trophy case with a jaundiced eye. You  may believe that another trophy adds to your history but it only demeans your communities past glory.

All that I know is that everyone had an opprotunity to win this thing and the bottom bracket let a 3A team with 4 Soph starting win the brackett!  No disrespect to Cleveland because they are a very good team and I'm sure could win this tournament on a given day. Stop the belly aching because the only one to blam is yourself! regaurdless if the bracketts were stacked or not you still have to win the games to advance and win the last one to win! At the end of the day this tournament does not crown a district or state champion it is just here for some practice over the Holiday break! I think that goal was reached as all of the teams got a good work out. If teams refuse to not attend next year because they did not win then good luck on thier quest to find a winnable tournament in 2009!! :'( :-* ;D

Say, do they still have that ref with the little Hitler moustache over there, the one who ejected some hilarious Hawk Hecklers during a Saturday 9 AM game three years ago?  The cop who escorted them out was laughing and agreeing with them about that ref, and apologizing for having to do his job.  I mean, the kids drove over on an early Saturday morning, and that sensitive little fellow had to show 'em who's boss...  sigh...  Anyway, it was not BH's stacked brackets, it was their refs that always annoyed this old Hawk Heckler.

Okey Dokey ;D I got your point and I see the advantage , but what your not seeing or care to see is that BH played 3 games Clevland played 4.They both had a full days rest before the Championship and allthough the disavatage could have been the better competition that Cleveland played it could also be an advantage. Through your account BH played the cupcake schedule ,so they had to really adjust to play Cleveland! BH only had one easy win and LCM took them to the buzzer! If LCM would have held on and beat BH they might have the Trophy! Then that would make things better? BH hasn't won this Tournament since 2005 with the same set up! IF BH was the raining Champ over this for the last 10 years then I could see the complaint, but they do not win that often and hardly ever repeat! Say what you may but BH deserved this Trophy and the Boys played their butts off to get it!  

Well we will let Diamond have the last post then watch this thread sail off into the sunset ;D Goodluck to all of our area teams as the district race takes focus!

Right now our guys would not beat a sixth grade girls "B" team---so it is not about winning it is about integrity or the lack of it

Second of all...

Our kids had to make several plays in the first round just to squeek by a very good LCM team at the buzzer

A 13 team bracket is impossible to put together.  Especially when you have no idea how good the teams are gonna be.  Are the coaches supposed to find out the records of all the teams and rank them accordingly....THEN....put the bracket together??  NOOOO  Give me a break!

Several factors go into putting together a bracket...LIKE...district teams, 3A or 4A/5A, drive time to games, etc

Sometimes those factors MAKE the bracket by itself.  Bracket was a fair as it could have been.  Two very good teams played for the championship....Better team that day was BH.

It's not been all that long ago that Cleveland was not allowed to play UIL football due to their fans getting out of control....

what year? what happened? How long were they "not allowed to play UIL football?"

stealthninja, that never happened, you have a nobody running his mouth about something he knows NOTHING about, yes the calling was poor at this tourney, but in the end the better team won, now if we were to have a re-match would they win again, who know's, I believe its how these kids show up that day and want to play, Congrats to both teams!!!!!!!!

You may want to check into this because it did happen to Cleveland just not to the extreme that was stated. It was in the mid 80's and it was basketball not football. They were able to play UIL games but they did have some games played where no fans were allowed to enter the gym. During this time frame Cleveland had some very good teams. I do not remember the exact year but would say between 82 and 85. This resulted from a very bad fight where most of the blame was placed, and I guess proven to have been caused by the Cleveland supporters.
