shorttexas1 Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 In the late 90s and early 2000s Beaumont reached a peak on talent on the court. Several kids went on to play Junior College and university ball, some play professional now (NBA or Euro), others will be great coaches. But here is what I was wondering? Lets start with the class of 2002 since Perk was apart of that class... If they all had went to college and the 2002 class all redshirted, the first graduating class would have been 2007. The NCAA national champs during that time were UCONN, North Carolina, and Florida twice. If I had put the best in Beaumont on one team could they have competed for a National Championship against one of those teams? Just from memory the best team that could have been compiled during that span would have been something like this. Starters C - Kendrick Perkins 6'11" - NBA PF - Clarence Matthews 6'7" - All Conference player D1, currently Euro SF - Keena Young 6'7" - All Confernce player D1, currently Euro SG - Trey McDowel - 6'3" - Junco ALll American, All Conference player D1, currently Euro PG - Michael Thomas - 6' - Coach SF, PF - Jason Dabny 6'6.5" - D1 SG, PG - Jason Breckenridge 6'3" - D1 PG - Brandon Andrews 6'1" - JUCO, SETX Mustangs SG - Harvey Grant 6'4" - JUCO SG - Albert Marshall 5'11" - First Team all Tourny HS State Champ PG - Brandon Chappell 6'0" - D1, Euro PF - Romeo (last name) 6'9" - Junco No size on the bench, but they would be pretty strong!
Guest aschrapps Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 North Carolina had Sean May, Marvin Williams, Rashad McCants, Raymond Felton so NO UCONN had Emeka Okeafor, Ben Gordon, Hilton Armstrong, Charlie Villanueva, Marcus Williams, Denham Brown Florida had Horford, Brewer, Green, Noah, Humphrey Your beaumont team wouldnt stand a chance against any of these teams. I mean were talking 25+ point victories.
Aces_Full Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Beaumont would get smoked. Wishful thinking.

I mean were talking 25+ point victories. Do ya think? You know I think it would be a decent game... Perk would have been ready to play, Matthews (18 pts,6 rb,3 ass.,2 stl) held his own against Sasha Kaun and Darrel Arthur and he played well against Bama and Ohio State, we all saw what Keena did on the college level, Trey put up good numbers on Arkansas, Nevada, LSU and killed conference! The PG and Bench are the weak areas but those guys were competitive and athletic. Do you think they could have made top 25?
Guest baseball25 Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Beaumont would get a butt kicking lol. I mean chris miller.mccleroy.noriss mghee.branden hayes.thadeous holden.arline.hancock.and the 6ft11 post from silsbee back in 2000 that played at sam houston eddy fobbs. YEAH BEAUMONT WOULD GET BEAT,BUT I ONT KNOW ABOUT SLAMMED. THEY WOULD KOSE IF THEY HAD TO GO TO THE BENCH
Guest aschrapps Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 yeah whoever named hancock would be a good player for your beaumont team. the thing is though that the majority of players would good players true but guys like Marvin Williams, Emeka Okeafor, Ben Gordon, Raymond Felton, Al Horford these guys are all world. You also need to remember that Kendrick is just now developing to his potential it took him some time to learn to play against people his size.

Interesting question...very interesting...Perk finished in 2003 though, but even with him, they woud be no match for those NCAA Championship teams...HOWEVER if you threw in some Houston and Dallas area guys in that mix you may have something...Daniel Gibson (Houston Jones), Chris Bosh (Dallas Lincoln), Jermis Smith (FW Dunbar) just to name a few....THEN you have a legit argument.
Guest ST4life Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 This is stupid....... Beaumont does not have all the talent in the world Shorty...... ok lets compare Beaumont to all of the Surrounding schools....... such as HJ, WOS, Silsbee, Port Author.....etc....
