I think HJ will actually be in the playoffs next year.

Gabe, you better hope Silsbee and HF have to rebuild next year to see BC in the playoffs  ;D

I just have faith in both BC and OF.

OF had a lot of young talent and good coaching and the same can be said for BC who was very young and dealing with a lot of personal issues this year.

HJ...is that serious??? Two very good coaches but the girls out there just don't breathe volleyball. Their Varsity wasn't that great and either was their J.V. OF will probably win the district b/c Riley Granger and the rest of the upcoming freshman class to go along with the sophomore class. If those girls work their tails off...they could see a state title run before they graduate. Silsbee and HF are returning a lot but both are losing their setters. Find people to replace the setters and they will be in the playoffs. Silsbee is returning a enough players that were "role" players this year that will step up and be the leaders next year. BC...great coach but their young players have a long ways to go. Either way...4 teams battling for 3 spots again next year.

One girl won't win district for Orangefield  ::)

I did not take "Rizons" post that way. He or she did not say one girl will win district for Orangefield. He or she probably only knew rylies name and not the rest of the up coming freshmen. I took his post as saying that some of the freshmen coming up next year could help the varsity. I think they can also.

BC will be in playoffs probably at the number 1 spot

I highly doubt that.

I didn't know you held grudges so much? LOL. I'm not saying they will be No. 1 but would it be that big of a shock?? The kids are there and the coaching is there to win district on any given year.

A very athletic class can do a lot very quickly...especially when you put two of them back to back like OF is going to have...their setter will more than likely be on varsity as well...and it's amazing what a good setter will do for you. They have Scales in the Middle and the two freshman outside hitters...and they are ALWAYS so scrappy on defense. They need someone step-up and be the leader and they will suprise some people. Both Silsbee and H-F could very likely have setter issues. BC will be solid next year, I'm not sure why everyone thinks they won't be that good. They did not lose any dominant players. They lost a good libero but their offensive attack will be much better next year. That Freshman girl they had this year at OH on JV will make a big impact next year. Whatever the case...I see OF and BC in and Silsbee and H-F battling for 3rd and I'll take H-F over Silsbee because they will have a lot of trouble setting unless they have someone coming up.

    • Well Mustang fans it's time for my annual end of season rant. I've had so much company up here on the soapbox that I may have to start charging rent. After 3 years I don't think anything needs to be said. We all know what's wrong. We all know why. So what's the decision at the next board meeting? IMO, there's been enough imaginary success for the board to rubber stamp the Superintendent's vision for our future student athletes. #make every second count Due to soft scheduling and a weaker than normal district. The luck of knocking off 2 ranked opponents early when they were not healthy or still trying to figure it out. Also led to a premature ranking and a hollow DCTF weekly award. The 2 late season losses vs ranked teams proves what we know has been the biggest problem.  Football 19-15 .559 Baseball 9-35 .205 Basketball 19-35 .352 GBB 11-29 .275 Softball 1-22 .043 Volleyball 0-38 .000 Overall 59-174 .253   For anyone living in the district, I ask that you contact you're elected board members publicly and privately. Don't let them think this is exceptable. Be the solution to the equation. Not the divisor. This starts at the top and falls heavily upon those walking the halls. They deserve better.
    • I don't think it's 6-5 maybe 4-3
    • Sounds like a good idea, and something’s been needed for a long time. I know—where my kids & grandkids live now (DFW area)—schools are like revolving doors for athletic purposes. I don’t think the DPISD & LPISD option enrollment are anywhere like that. I assume it’s pretty above board since it was an arrangement apparently agreed to also by the state. I do know some kids that went to LPISD elementary schools in DP chose to go to DPHS because of the district rating. (Of course, at the time, DPISD and DP in general wasn’t very racially mixed like La Porte.) LPISD has a high number of kids on assistance programs compared to DP. Say what you will, it does make it more difficult for educational purposes and scores can reflect as much. LPISD is still rated high even with that challenge. Some of the kids that chose DPHS were very solid athletes that I’m sure LP would love to have had attend LPHS. Of course, part of the big rivalry between DP & LP has always been because DP ‘looked down’ on LP even though we worked side-by-side. Now that Shell DP refinery has been sold to PEMEX, DP is changing. Some aren’t happy about it. Some of us in LP are kinda tickled about it after the history.
