Guest mffl Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Despite the blowout last night, we've played much better in OOC this year than we have in a while. I think there is no reason to not be excited about this year in the SLC, if we can knock off SFA and UTA for the regular conf. championship, then we'll have at least an NIT bid. How do you think we'll do in conference?
Guest coachacola Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Pomery projected records: Top 3: SFA 21-7, 13-3 LU 20-10, 11-5 UTA 17-12, 11-5 Best of the rest: SHSU 15-14, 9-7 McNeese 15-14, 9-7 UTSA 17-12, 8-8 Nicholls 15-14, 8-8 Texas State 15-14, 8-8 SELA 14-15, 8-8 Should be very competitive this year. Lamar needs to improve their defense or they'll have a hard time winning conference. Winning conference would guarantee a spot in the NIT if they don't win the SLC tourney.
lu cards Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 i forget about that nit bid.its a nice carrot to dangle.i think the cards will do well in conf but we need continued improvement from custer, williams, harper and miles.our starting five can only take us so far.i wouldnt be surprised if hall loses his starting spot.weve got a 9 player rotation, maybe 10 if mahoney can spell dawkins a few minutes each game.so we better stay healthy!
TexasTerror Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 SFA has got the easier path to the regular season crown being in the SLC East. Fewer rough road trips. I think LU and UTA make up rest of the top three with SHSU being a team that can either join them if the team continues to progress through the season or be back in the second group. I do not feel the Kats will slip to the back of the bus. They'll get into the SLC tournament. SLU is going to be interesting to watch as they lose their top player and that could open the door for an unexpected team in the SLC East to make a push for a top four seed.
Guest mffl Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Well, I think SELA is a dark horse... they could beat us this Saturday if we aren't prepared.
Guest coachacola Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Looking at the Pomeroy ratings today, UTA has jumped ahead of LU. UTA is finally playing good basketball, while Lamar's big loss to Memphis didn't help. UTA features the SLC's best offense, while SFA offers the SLC's best defense. Since no team is head and shoulders above any other, the SLC tourney will probably be won by the team that's the hottest at the time. Also interesting is that Pomeroy has the SLC ahead of the Sunbelt.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 The Cards will do well in conference play.
