Guest coachacola Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 The Lamar-McNeese State rivalry, already one of the most hotly-contested competitions for each athletic department, will now be more enticing than ever, thanks to the creation of the Verizon Wireless Battle of the Border, as announcement jointly between the two schools. The series, made possible through a joint corporate partnership with Verizon Wireless, will feature a scoring system that awards points to each school based on the results of head-to-head and SLC Championship competition in 14 different sports. The school that has accumulated the most points at the end of the year will be named the winner. http://lamarcardinals.cstv.com/genrel/011409aaa.html
TexasTerror Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 I foresee this being pretty one-sided for the foreseeable future. It's those Title IX sports where LU will do their damage, particularly XC and T&F -- which is six sports in itself. McNeese will take football (at least for the first few years), but outside of that, the Pokes are going to be hard pressed to get the 'W's.
AstrosDawg07 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Ya I do like this idea. I wish the rivalry was more nastier like Sam & SFA.
lu cards Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 come feb 4th mcneese will officially be on a downturn in football.
Ruckdad Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 That's Lamar's first signing day in 20 years. LU cards thinks that we will hurt the recruiting efforts of McNeese.

Hope some cards are planning to make the trip to Lake Chuck this weekend.
