Question for TD. Why did you have to pay to get Hooks sign fixed when it should have came out of the School's INS. Money?

Because he is loaded and does not have anything else to do with his money.

LOL!  ;D  "I heard" he wanted to start small with the sign, but he's paying to have turf put in over the summer!  ;D

Shouldn't you two boys be over filling out the LCM questionaire wanting to know this information about who you want for your new AD/Head Coach???????

1. How important is it that the Athletic Director/Head Football Coach (candidate) be honest and of high moral character and integrity?"

Really if you have to ask................... I'm just sayin

How and how much information are parents entitled to see for themselves involving the finances of their school district?

I think you are right on track with this question!

I'm not sure about the protocol of asking for it, but what might help is a "State of the District" address delivered to the community by the board at one of the meetings.

This message board is obviously about athletics and athletics are a huge part of WOS's identity.  BUT, the athletic program won't survive if the school budget continues to flounder. Things are indeed tight all over, but the district's reluctance to spend funds on the most simple of things (like the Dan Hooks sign at the stadium) is a sign of real concern.  The "extra" bus runs is another issue that looks like a simple issue of costs.  Things are indeed tough everywhere, but at least you have to have a plan to how to get your head above water and you should be entitled to what that plan is.

Good post Slam. However, instead of a "state of the district address" I would rather see them put the numbers on their letter head and let me look at them. To me that's better than them feeding me what they want me to have. Let me see if I can make a call.

    • Virginia has same day voter registration. A person can literally walk in to the voting location, register and then vote. So the premise that Virginia might be stopping people with a legitimate right to vote is nonsense. From what I gather in the news report, assuming that the ones I have read are correct, the people that were removed, filled out a drivers license registration and marked that they were not an American citizen. Could the person have made a mistake bychecking the box incorrectly? Although unlikely it is certainly possible. That same person who was removed can go into the same voting location where he would have voted and again, complete a voter registration and then vote.  That went into the Supreme Court’s decision.  If such a person votes by registering on election day, he fills out a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are not originally counted and or not counted unless needed. For example….  Statewide there are 500 provisional ballots cast. A person wins the election by 4,000 votes. That would be no need to count the provisional ballots as it will not matter. Then let’s say there are 5,000 provisional ballots cast in the election. One candidate then wins the election by only 1,500 votes. In that case, the election could definitely swing on those provisional ballots. The state will then investigate each person to make sure they live at the correct address listed and that they are American citizens. If these things are correct, the vote will then be counted. Safe Harbor is not untillll…… I think December 17th this year so there will be six weeks to verify the provisional ballots if needed. The purging of the names of people who checked a state form saying that they were not an American citizen, will not stop that same person from voting.
