LamarStatesports Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Freshman forward Adrian Fontenot from Baytown had his best night ever as a Lamar State College-Port Arthur Seahawk, but it wasn’t enough to keep Lee College from posting a 70-64 conference win Wednesday night in the Carl Parker Center. Fontenot led the Seahawks with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Jacoby Joseph added eight points. Lee College freshmen C.J. Busby and Freddie Hayes, former teammates at Kountze High School, paced the Runnin’ Rebels with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Lamar State took an early lead, but Lee came back to lead by one point, 28-27, at halftime and pulled to a 10 points lead midway through the second half. The Seahawks cut the lead to four in the waning minutes of the game but couldn’t overtake the Rebels. Lamar State (6-9 overall, 0-6 conference) travels to Lufkin this Saturday to face Navarro College (13-3, 5-0), which is one of three Region XIV teams that are undefeated in conference play.
