KFDM COOP Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Beaumont Enterprise Former Kirbyville star to be in Texas HS Football Hall of Fame By THE ENTERPRISE January, 14, 2009 Kirbyville running back Ernest "Bubba" Bean will be inducted to the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame at a banquet May 2 in Waco. Bean played at Texas A&M and spent three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons in the 1970s. Other inductees are "T" Jones of Childress, Johnny Roland of Corpus Christi Roy, Bob Goodrich of Dallas Woodrow Wilson, Kenneth Davis of Temple, Shaud Williams of Andrews and coach Pat Shannon of San Antonio Jefferson. Also inducted will be Newt Hasson as a special contributor to Texas high school football. The banquet will include include presentations to 2008 state championship coaches. The 2009 Tom Landry Award will be presented to an outstanding coach, and the 2008 Gordon Wood Award will be presented to an outstanding high school. These awards will be announced at a later date. Members of the Texas High School Football are selected by a statewide committee made up of eight sportswriters, eight high school football coaches and eight members of the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame Board of Trustees.
