Guest 21-3a Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 If not then who is...that kid probaly leading the state in steals so far this season...
Lazeek Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 He is the best defender in the district and will win defensive player of the year!!!!!!
Guest Pissedoffgranny23 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Pheal Hill and Jacolby are both defensive masters!!!
Lazeek Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Pheal Hill and Jacolby are both defensive masters!!! It is JACOBY not Jacolby!!!! ;D ;D ;D
w518991 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 He is the best defender in the district and will win defensive player of the year!!!!!! don't know about that either might should play a district game first :D
setxslam Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Yes, easily, without a doubt. He's also the best off-the-ball and help defender in 21-3A, and maybe the state. So he gives you that, plus 30+ ppg scoring capability. Big 3, Baby!!!
w518991 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 If not then who is...that kid probaly leading the state in steals so far this season... not saying he can't play defense but HJ plays a zone so I do not know about on the ball defender

setxslam Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Yes, he has demonstrated that 30+ ppg capability on multiple occasions. Jarvis is the only HJ player who averages 30+ for this entire season; Jacoby's got next. You'll see...

I find that hard to believe.
setxslam Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 You caught me there, AAW: I have not tracked his numbers. My impression from watching him in every game HJ has played this year is that he's likely at 30+ ppg. He's had several 40+. Anyway, he ain't garbage.

From the boxscores that I was able to pull up and the games that I have done, I have Jarvis avg. right at 22 a game, Turner at 17.
setxslam Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 I just spoke to one of the stat girls. She doesn't keep a running, cumulative, ppg for the players, but her "guess" was that "Jarvis is around 28." I apologize for my hyperbole.
setxslam Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 And I probably should have specified that she meant 28 ppg, not years of age.
Guest Pissedoffgranny23 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 haha lol just wondering how old is lebron?
the wise one Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 does anyone other than ppl from HJ feel that he is the best defender in the district? just curious if he can really play D or not i haven't had the opportunity to watch him play?
#10gwh Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 wise one its hard to say... the really do play a zone defense

mongoose Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 It would be nice to see an HJ player to get the defensive MVP again this year. ...they look at how many steals, blocked shots and defensive rebounds a player has......and Jacoby does all that very well....
Guest stevenash Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Whether its man to man or zone makes little difference when evaluating the defensive capabilities. Mr. Turner comes up with an extraordinary amount of steals and, in my opinion, rebounds far better for his size than anyone in the district.

Guest nostradamus Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Why does it make a difference when evaluating a defensive player? Silsbee plays some zone, I've seen Orangefield do it quite a bit this year. I know HF, Bridge City, and WOS all play lots of zone too. You can't be a DPOY if your team plays zone? Because a team plays man to man and one plays zone then the player whose team plays man should have the edge in defensive awards?? Seriously?? You can either defend or you can't.....it doesn't matter what style of defense you play in.
