What's the point in this? I am not sure the fashion in which this was won, press for 4 quarters or what, but busting the century mark on somebody who didn't even make 50 is pointless. I say don't pass up layups, but if any second half points were made outside of 10 feet then this is just pure and simple poor sportsmanship.

That was not the case, UKCats. Silsbee pressed to start the third quarter but by mid quarter, called it off. Silsbee did most of their scoring in the fourth quarter on BC mistakes, mostly layups and offensive rebound putbacks. The Tigers killed the Cards on the boards.

UKCats, maybe you should go back to the first page of this thread and read it. I have quoted your first post and my reply to it. I think I explained how this game went down.

I am calling Coach Sutherland and Coach Williams in the morning and telling them they need to think about other peoples feelings instead of pursuing their quest for a title and winning the games laid in front of them.  I will also tell them to hold the ball each quarter for one shot and that way they will only win by a few points.  

Did anybody say Silsbee shouldnt try to win?

oh you just want them to keep it close... so that everyone is a winner... it was a sad day in sport when participation trophies started getting handed out

if he knows so much why isnt he a coach than?...and you took two of my comments and merged them together to prove your own point. freshmen teams play jv teams all the time for more competition and it happens with jv and varsity too.

Yeah let me tell i havent gradumacated high skool yet. you do not understand coaching and are just the type of person who wants to beat people by 200 and doesnt care about sportsmanship or character.

I am a kelly fan and i think kellys girls beating milburn by that much was wrong. they should have never scheduled that game or let their jv play the game there is no point in playing games like that. now if milburn would have been a district game you slow the game down make your kids pass the ball alot and leave the game.

wow did i say to not rebound or block out you play the game but if you have to make 15 passes a game you do it you run the spread dribble the clock out shorten the game.

o we forgot the almighty lazeek and his infinite knowledge of the game of basketball. he knows all because he coaches little dribblers

i think lazeek knows a lot more than you think... you dont know what you are talking about... what do you think is more embarassing losing to the #8 team in 3a by 60... or knowing that you arent even good enough to play on the same court as someones varsity so they sent out there jv because your team wasnt worthy... that shows less sportsmanship and character then anything ive said

wow way to take everything out of context i had no problem with hjs score against bridge city as i have seen both teams play and suspected the score would be somewhere in that neighborhood. hj with their press is just as capable of scoring 100 against bridge city as silsbee was but somehow they managed to keep the score down. i have no problem with coach sutherlands philosophy.

and as for my other comment maybe you should read more carefully i was saying kellys girls varsity should have never scheduled that game. freshmen teams play jv all the time for more competion as is the same for jv and varsity. nice try

silsbee scored the majority of its points in the second half off bridge city missed shots and turnovers... they did what they were taught get the ball out and go thats the style thats has always worked for silsbee run and gun, and when they got it off a dead ball they did run somethings offfensivly they just happen to score everytime they did and BC couldnt answer.... only a couple of threes in second half were even being gaurded by BC are you saying that kids should pass up the opportunity to shoot a wide open 3 in a game situation just because they are ahead by a lot? do NBA teams pass up shots ever?!?! i saw the suns get blown out the other night the team they were playing never slowed down never quit trying to score...

My account is accurate, I broadcasted the game and have the stats. Silsbee shot a few three's in the third, nothing in the fourth. As I said before, no three's late in the game.

there are some kids who shoot the ball whether it is right or wrong and you just cant stop that... im talking about the real basketball players who only take the open shots not the ones who are "tryin to get theirs"

I doubt that!!!!!!  There is not an JV squads that can compete with Silsbee in the area or even the Houston area.  HJ has played St. Thomas the last two seasons and lost at St. Thomas 2 years ago by 15 and lost to them at HJ last season by about 7.  Their JV was good but the HJ JV beat them last season.
