silsbee scored the majority of its points in the second half off bridge city missed shots and turnovers... they did what they were taught get the ball out and go thats the style thats has always worked for silsbee run and gun, and when they got it off a dead ball they did run somethings offfensivly they just happen to score everytime they did and BC couldnt answer.... only a couple of threes in second half were even being gaurded by BC are you saying that kids should pass up the opportunity to shoot a wide open 3 in a game situation just because they are ahead by a lot? do NBA teams pass up shots ever?!?! i saw the suns get blown out the other night the team they were playing never slowed down never quit trying to score...

And then I get this from the MIGHTY silsbee ex. So apparently you're account wasn't very accurate.

how is it inaccurate again? there were some stupid 3 pointers taken with someone in their face and the kids were taken out of the game for it....

oh well that is a new tone from you, now silsbee wasn't shooting wide open threes they are shooting guarded threes in the second half with a big lead. That makes it sound better

there are some kids who shoot the ball whether it is right or wrong and you just cant stop that... im talking about the real basketball players who only take the open shots not the ones who are "tryin to get theirs"

I agree those kids are out there just trying to get theirs, but I have to disagree with your statement that it can't be stopped.

so you wouldnt want silsbees jv to play some varsity teams if they had the chance?

would you want your varsity team playing a jv team because you know you cant compete with their varsity?

wow you just dont listen...i said play up for more competition to get your kids ready for the next level i never said play down your just arguing for argument sake.

and your absolutely right silsbees jv would beat both of those teams. i think westrbooks freshmen could give hf a game.

on a side note i really would like to see silsbee and st thomas jv play each other it would be a great game

im going back to what you originally said... i always agree to play up.. but i dont know of any varsity team that would agree to play a jv team... it just wouldnt be right... what if they lost... it would be way more embarassing than losing to a way better varsity team

it happens more in a scrimmage setting but it happens more than you think but in rare instances where varsity coaches assume they can beat a jv team because it is a jv team.

it can be stopped... youre right about that but in silsbee's case those kids will get theirs it wont stop...

Well discipline has to play a role eventually. Some years a coach get such a group of athletes that he can go deep with kids that don't listen. However, Cleveland, ranked one above you guys this year  ;), has no more talent than they have had in years past, but there is no discipline in that program and eats em up every year.

I doubt that!!!!!!  There is not an JV squads that can compete with Silsbee in the area or even the Houston area.  HJ has played St. Thomas the last two seasons and lost at St. Thomas 2 years ago by 15 and lost to them at HJ last season by about 7.  Their JV was good but the HJ JV beat them last season.

St. thomas has brought in a lot of new players this year and they have three guards who are absolute snipers and they have a big man who can stop silsbees. his name is aaron durley he plays varsity as well he is ranked somewhere in the top ten in the freshmen class. it really would be a great game and lets not get carried away. I know for a fact that strake jesuits jv team is very good and they also have a top freshmen playing for them. there are so many good players in houston.

I was personally involved with a varsity team playing a JV. Back in 1980, I was on Silsbee's JV and Spurger varsity needed a game for their homecoming(Spurger doesn't play football, therefore they have their homecoming in basketball) We agreed to play them and well, to make a long story short, we killed them, 122-35. I will never forget that game for many reasons.

i know how to stop it only pass them the ball when its ok for them to shoot haha jk

I have a kid like this and he spent most of pre district play on the bench or in the stands because he felt like he didn't have to listen. Mom and dad think he's going pro though and they said they would show me.

I admit that is way worse than the one we're talking about tonight. You guys had a point to prove though because they scheduled you for an easy win.

He is just like those kids, I will never say that I hope a kid who played for me doesn't go pro. Heck I hope he does cause then I'm gonna ask for royalties.

There are mile stones in every player, every game, every season. When you have a mile stone in your sights you don't quit going for it just because your winning. I mean hey 20 points a game, 10 assist, 10 rebounds, 100 points a game, getting in the post season, getting to state, and then winning state. Mile stones, goals you have to have them, the team needs them. If winning demoralizes the losing team them so be it. Get demoralized. Just because a team can, don't criticize them. Man just let it be.

i wasn't at the game, so i don't hold a strong opinion one way or the other.  the only thing that i question about this result was that Silsbee averaged 26 points a quarter, but going into the 4th with a 43 point lead, they scored 32 points and increased their lead by 21 more points to win by 64.

I do not want to pour gas on a fire, but let me ask this question.

Why is Silsbee being blasted for beating a team so soundly?

I am just asking that is all.

Nothing but pure jealousy!!!!

Teams like Silsbee, HJ, Ozen and Kountze that have had a great basketball tradition are always ridiculed for some of the scores that they put up.  It is ridiculous.  GET OVER IT!!!!!!

Good question, Jay.

I have seen far worse scores in my day. Matter of fact, I remember a HJ team that had their current assistant playing for them, beating someone by nearly 100 points one time.

I have tried to explain to folks on this thread how this game went down, but they don't seem to understand. The point I am trying to make is that everyone at one time or another has games like this. If they were there, they probably wouldn't have any questions.

I totally agree, Lazeek.
