BLUEDOVE3 Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 I'm not familiar with middle school ball in the Bmt area. Can anyone give some insights on some good programs (if any) in the area ???
westend1 Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 South Park has the best 8th grade team. Marshall has lost 3 games this year(twice to South Park). I hear SFA is very good, but I haven't seen them play. Austin is good, as usual, and so is Vincent. I haven't seen much of the 7th graders games.
Justme Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 If you are talking strait basketball i would not be able to tell you but if you are talking all around year in and year out I would say Odom academy of beaumont. Chavis does a great job.
Guest aschrapps Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 I assume by program you mean consistency over time. St annes has a very good junior high program for this area they play alot more game than the public schools. C.O Wilson in Nederland is generally pretty good. Odom is always talented and Henderson is generally sucessful
BLUEDOVE3 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 I never thought about Odom. Thanks.
Guest KirbyKat Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 St. Anne's, Odom and C.O. Wilson... all excellent programs. If C.O. is on the list you probably have to put Central ( Nederland ) on also, since C.O. can't seem to beat Central when it counts in district.
AshlyHasBeen Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 All those are good programs I miss good ol Woodrow Wilson in PA. That gym was crazy with only balcony seating and no out of bounds space. On a side note my team from Groves was the first to beat Woodrow in our schools history in the 7th grade, then we beat them again in 8th and had to be escorted out of the gym.
CATMAN Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Big Sandy has got one off the best 7&8 grade boys, that they have had in years. When these boys get into high school look out 1A ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I remember playing in that gym back in '87 when I played for Jasper Middle School's 8th grade B team. It was a fun place to play, but they had a couple of kids that were dunking in warm-ups and they killed us twice that year...51-8 in Jasper and 76-16 at that cracker box. On the bright side, we went 3-5 in our other games that year...but I thought Coach Brack was going to lose his mind on those two nights. They had a great program back then for that level and Jasper's A team was actually pretty good and gave WW a couple of decent games. We were just the leftovers and we looked like it.

That would include a grand total of one district game from last year and it represents CO's only loss in the last 2 years...Central does have a good squad with some great kids, but in all fairness, CO has beaten them pretty soundly (30+ points) in their other 2 matchups...one was a tournament game last year and the other was a few weeks back...they will get another shot at each other on 2-2-09 at the Dog Dome in a district game...should definitely be worth watching...these kids know each other very well and compete extremely hard against one another...the good news is, they will all be on the same side next year at NHS.
T_totha_K Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Of course this topic goes to the Port Arthur middle schools...I was a Edison Falcon
