Rebel Yeller Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Just so you will know that the folks at the Evadale Catfish Festival will once again have the Catfish All Star Basketball Games as a part of this years Catfish Festival. The games will be played on Saturday, May 9th. The girls game will be at 2 PM and the guys will play at 5 PM. These games will feature senior players from schools in the district who have played against one another for years. Once the festival knows how many players are interested in playing from 25A they may have to expand out to other 1A schools to the north to fill out the rosters of the teams. The Catfish Festival did this a couple of years ago and both games were fun and the action in the boys games was truly outstanding. Hope everyone can come and watch these seniors who have given so much of themselves to our schools as they hit the hardwood one more time before they graduate. (Yes it will be the hardwood as Evadale's big gym renovations are scheduled to be completed in early April.) Just thought you might like to put this on your calendar now and while you are at it you might as well come out and enjoy the rest of the Catfish Festival beginning Thursday, night May 7th and going through Sunday the 10th.
BigTimePlayer Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 I know that 1 of the seniors from a year or 2 ago played in that game. How does the rosters get put together? Do the coaches just send someone or what, and what all schools will be featured?
Rebel Yeller Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 The festival contacts coaches in the district for two nominees and and alternate. Thne the festival contacts the players and invites them to participate. Depending on the number of players who accept then the teams will be put together. Players from the same sholl will play on the same team. Both games were great a couple of years ago, these sho be too!
