My issue is not with Suggs coaching ability, my son was a sophomore at Lincoln when Suggs was there, and I think he did a good job. But I want a coach that has an invested interest in our kids and community. If we were to hire Suggs in PA,   A.  he would be gone the first time he went deep in the playoffs are when a new school opened in Houston. He and Stowers both proved that to be true. PAISD has 65% at risk students and the   B.  last thing our community need to do is put leaders in place that want be around to help build a foundation for our kids. That goes for all leadership positions in the district. I guarantee you that majority of the people that write on these blogs don't live in a community that reflects those stats. Outside people comment on what they think PA needs but if your not living here seeing what's happening with our kids you have no idea, and C.  trust me 2 or 3 winning seasons and a departure is not the answer. Were in a battle down here trying to save our kids from the streets. I'm more concerned about saving OUR youth than helping someone use the system as a stepping stone for a better job and more money.

I understand what you're saying but the opposite would probably happen as well.  It wouldn't matter if he cared for the kids, checked up on them at home, made sure they did their homework, taught them to be men, if he had one or two bad seasons he'd be gone.  if :  A.  he went 1-9 the same people that want someone to stick around would be calling for his head.  B. The community isn't concerned with people helping their kids, they want 10 wins a year and a state championship every 3-4 years.  C.  if the shoe is on the other foot and there is 2-3 losing seasons the fans will definitely say departure is the answer.

Hard life being a coach. When you win everybody loves you, when that proves difficult nothing else that you do matters.  Dads at the refinery, mill, truckstop  can't comprehend it.

When people go into coaching they know what to expect.  It's not like it's a surprise that they are expected to win.  HC's get hired  -- and fired -- because of their records.  One never gets hired because he may be a good person.

Refinery, and mill workers have a different set of expectations.  But, it's all relevant.

From the looks of the stands last season, I'm surprised there is this much conversation about this.  I didn't think that many people cared.  I moved back to Port Arthur 8 years ago and have been shocked by the lack of community support for the team.  And since Jamaal left, it has eroded even more.  :'(

KRH = Jason Garrett, alot of potential(theres that word again) but no substance. His offensive #'s were great as long as he had a J. Charles running the ball 50 times a game. Sorry have seen too many failed attempts  by this guy to coach. His offense got stale  :P
