The Young Coach Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 The only other thing to do then is have the top five candidates have a public forum/debate for all Indian fans to watch. Then pick the winner. Hey Coop you up for it? ;D J/K We could have it at the Reservation That's the best idea I've heard on here! I would imagine most Indians could care less how they debate. If we were hiring a debate team coach...perhaps. Past performance is indicative of future success. Not true. Many good coaches just haven't been given the shot yet.
pngfan1 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I don't care if you love them or hate them this hiring board has their hands full. Not matter which way you go your be second guessed, but will have a good coach Amen, I agree
Itiswhatitis Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I like the experience Faircloth has at great football program schools like (OPermian, HP, and Westlake) however there are many old Permian, Plano, Katy etc young coaches that have went out and took 3A HD coaching jobs to have the full experience of Head Coach....The people in the PNGISD would eat him alive if things were not even going close to their way....Not good for a young gun.... If Danaher wants it, its his...I think Vance would do Ok.....However I think people are overlooking guys like Judd, Chancellor and the guy from Justin Northwest (look at that district and his past experience).... I would want to know more on Fairlcoth and if he is actually "calling the shots"...They just brought in an Assoc. Head Coach????.....Hmmmm I guess OU should have told Stoops, "Sorry, Bob, you are too young to lead this team." Instead, they hired a young, energetic, and innovative head coach who surrounded himself with great coaches and went to work. I think it worked out pretty well for them.

pngfan1 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Rumor from another board is Vance withdrew his name.
LH Panther Mom Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Hey Young Coach, do you know how old Vance is? He looks to be about the same age as Danaher. From what I'm seeing and hearing, the top contenders for PNG HC/AD are Garrett, Vance, Danaher. I believe he is in his late 50's. They are losing alot this year. We lose a lot every year.
badndn Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Rumor from another board is Vance withdrew his name. I'm sure he got what he wanted out of having his name on the list and being publisized! wonder how much they bumped him at LH to stay. This is what's wrong with the list being made public before hand! Schools wasting time and money to interview candidates that really have no interest other than to squeeze more money out of their current employers.

Mikey Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Do we change the name of the thread now. Let's vote Dunaher and ?

Pay him what he is worth to begin with and he wont have to apply elsewhere. If they didnt think he was worth it, they would have let him walk. Same thing happened at Nederland last year and the school board coughed it up. Good for him .... :-*
NDNWarrior Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Do we change the name of the thread now. Let's vote Dunaher and ? Looks like it should be re-titled to Danaher and Garrett. Word is that Stump will be staying at Westbrook, but can't get it confirmed.

Second choice would be Faircloth.
InTheGates Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I would still have to put the following guys in the race with Vance out: Danaher Griffin Faircloth McAngus I dont think Garrett would get the nod before Faircloth...JMO

To The Young Coach If an assistant coach (which I assume you are talking about) has demonstrated his ability to lead a successful offense in a program somewhere else, he will eventually get his chance. It will be a smaller school, but talent eventually rises to the top. It's a hard pill to swallow for a 4A school to hire an assistant. It's an even bigger decision when you have a high profile school that has garnered this much publicity (unwanted) in their search. I may be wrong, but I believe it's rare to find a large 4A or 5A school turn their program over to someone who hasn't had executive experience. I use the word "executive" because it's similar to the president of a company that answers to a Board (in our case a school board.) You want someone who has dealt with that level of responsibility. Now, in our situation, we have an interested executive that has not only satisfied his current Board, but has increased share price every year for 24 years. I would think this is the Executive that would be chosen to make our company profitable again.

I believe Garrett has proven his ability to lead and handle responsibility while serving his country in Desert Storm. Being in charge of 40+ men's lives while taking fire shows a lot more responsibility than handling a football team and answering to a school board. Plus, like I've said before, it's not like all he has done is coach high school football. He had several college stops...full-time jobs, not G.A. jobs....one in which he was the OC. Plus...you have to remember this one little fact...he got an interview...so obviously there are some people on that committee that think he could be the man for the job.
NDNWarrior Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Just puttin this out there.....Danaher definitely has the record and would be a good coach. As far as moving, I believe his wife is a curriculum specialist for the CC school district and was at one time an Assistant Principal. So, its clear that she has a career as well. Now, I've heard he may have applied as a leverage to get more money from CC, but, I think he would have to consider his wife's career as well. Anyone else have an opinion along this line?

Well...It's not an opinion, it's a fact. He wants a state title. I've explained the situation a few other times on this board. It's that simple. PS His wife is Assistant Superintendant in Charge of Curriculum.

Danaher was one of the coaches that didn't want the list released to the media. Therefore I don't agree with the leverage for a raise speculation. IMO he will take the job if offered.
