GoBigBlue1997 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 sounds like an attempt to get Calallen to up the ante.
The Young Coach Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Sounds to me like he applied just to be nice to his friend, but doesn't really want the job.
KFDM COOP Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 Especially when i heard them say "His Heart is still in Calallen".
PNGFan Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 sounds like PNG is getting used... :-\ Looks that way!!!!!! > > > > > :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
dayton Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 sounds like PNG is getting used... :-\ Looks that way!!!!!! > > > > > :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ On a positive note.... it takes a darn good program to convince them that he's serious and make them give him the $$$!!
NDNWarrior Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Sounds to me like he applied just to be nice to his friend, but doesn't really want the job. I kinda feel the same way. You need to STAY where your "heart" is.
smitty Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 In this situation, this is always a concern. sounds like PNG is getting used... :-\ Looks that way!!!!!! > > > > > :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
modmouse78 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Yeah, because he would really come and and tell the people of Calallen that he does not like it there and will leave the first time he gets a chance. How many times have you heard a coach say that he has no interest, and the next thing you know, they are leaving to go where they just said they wouldn't.

modmouse78 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Exactly, he was one of the ones that did not want the names to be released.
Guest Silsbee88 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 I'm with the others that say Age is a concern. Wrong hire if he's hired here. :
EX-Ceauxch Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Your right about the age thing...Good thing Stump is YOUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PNGFan Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Your right about the age thing...Good thing Stump is YOUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stump isn't leaving WB!!!!!!!!!!!
badndn Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Stump isn't leaving WB!!!!!!!!!!! Just don't believe he'll leave WB. So which is it, he "isn't leaving WB" or you "don't believe he'll leave WB"? ;D
Load Option Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 That was what the reporter said he said. He is a good coach & guy, but he is serious about the PNG job.
Load Option Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Also what is this stuff about age? Would yall not want PNG officials to hire Bobby Bowden or Joe Paterno? Either you can coach or not. This guy can coach.
KFDM COOP Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 Stump isn't leaving WB!!!!!!!!!!! Just don't believe he'll leave WB. So which is it, he "isn't leaving WB" or you "don't believe he'll leave WB"? ;D Don't know yet.
PNGFan Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Stump isn't leaving WB!!!!!!!!!!! Just don't believe he'll leave WB. So which is it, he "isn't leaving WB" or you "don't believe he'll leave WB"? ;D I don't think he is interested in leaving WB. Also what is this stuff about age? Would yall not want PNG officials to hire Bobby Bowden or Joe Paterno? Either you can coach or not. This guy can coach. I have no issues with Danaher's age!!!! Hopefully he can come in and bring a good young assistant with him and groom him to take over when he retires
Gabe Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 I'm with the others that say Age is a concern. Wrong hire if he's hired here. Who would you want then over the coach with the most wins among active coaches? You would turn him down just because his age?
IndianCat Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Imagine coaching somewhere for 24 years...coaching both your sons...and having a community that used to worship you. Now imagine a community that lashes out at you (who by the way is the winningest active coach in Texas, and #3 all-time) for having an 8-4 season...the first season with four losses since 1987. Now imagine that after all this success, you still have not won a state championship and you're community has started taking you for granted. You have around 8 -10 years left in your career to attain what you set our for 32 years before. And you start to realize...it may not happen. Here. Now imagine you are this same coach and you have an opportunity to take over a program that has experienced major success over the years. The community has the athletes, the community support, state of the art facilities...and possibly better odds to build a title contender. You request confidentiality because you are not trying to get your school in a bidding war, you are just trying to protect your athletes from hearing anything pre-mature. You want them to hear any news from your mouth. Then one day you take a call from a reporter regarding your application to another school. You tell the reporter your heart is with the program you built. The same program that fed your family, sent your kids to college and elevated your career to the coaching elite. How do you think a coach with any class would answer reporter's questions regarding your application? They would answer the same way Danaher did. He has already, in detail, laid out exactly what would have to happen for him to accept an offer from PNG. And it has nothing to do with bolstering his salary. He's a coach. He just wants a state title. We need to support his quest for a title by making PNG a part of it.
