On the heels of the victory, Roccaforte said there was even good news on the injury front. Well, actually good news and bad news. The LU coach said point guard Kenny Dawkins, though not back to 100 percent, is better than he’s been in two weeks. On the flip side, Tristan Worrell was in the student medical center on Monday battling a virus. His status is up in the air.

Roccaforte once again plans to start 6-2 Skyler Williams in place of 5-10 Brandon McThay and thinks it’s likely 6-6 freshman Charlie Harper will open in place of the ailing Worrell. He’ll be counting on the continued strong play of 6-7 senior Jay Brown, who is averaging a double-double (13.5 ppg, 10.0) and takes it personal when opponents drive to the basket.

I gotta say Jay Brown is twice the player that I thought he was last year. Big suprise on both ends of the floor. Not sure I can remember a 6'7" guy at LU that blocked shots like he does??

Had he of played like this last year then LU's season might have ended differently than it did.

Jay Brown did start last year slowly, but looking at his overall stats they do compare favorably to this year.  He just wasn't getting near the minutes that he's getting this year, probably due to Sanders and Nabors in the lineup.  It's a shame Roc couldn't find a good big man to compliment these players.

I think at the beginning of last season he was still adjusting to the Division I game. He played slower and he seemed to be in no where the shape he is now. However he really was the only bright stop in our last game against UTA in the tourney.
