Guest ECBucFan Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 East Chambers opened the season with a 41-27 victory over the Shepherd Pirates in Shepherd on Friday, September 1. Fans witnessed a strong performance from both offense and defense. EC would score first during the 1st quarter on a short run from Leday followed by the extra point by Martinez. Second quarter would see more from Leday and Martinez making the score 21-6 at the half. The Buccaneers struck first during the second half with a pass from Thomas to Williams making the score 28-6. Defensively, the Bucs tired toward the end of the game, but continued to play hard resulting in the final 41-27 score. Coach Valastro: "I felt great about the offensive line and the way Leday ran the football. Thomas did an excellent job running the offense, especially throwing the ball. Defensively we got a little tired toward the end of the game; however, I was proud of the fact that we never quit playing hard. Offensive Player of the Game was Leday with 231 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 20 carries." Coach Fontenot: "I would like to congratulate the Bucs on an outstanding effort defeating the Shepherd Pirates. Defensively, the first half was a great overall effort. We gave up only 6 points and had a big 4th down stand early in the game. During the second half, the Pirates did a better job of moving the ball; but in the end, the Bucs came out victorious. Defensive Player of the Game was Williams who had 9 tackles and 3 assists."

Guest ECBucFan Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Of course not. I saw the previous posted on the schools website, and thought whoever wrote it did a good job. Just sharing info here, even though it's kind of old news. Hope it didn't offend anyone.
