You won't need to look too long and hard to find Lamar University football coach Ray Woodard this morning.

He'll doing the same thing as most other college football coaches around the nation: Sitting near a fax machine in his office and waiting for signed National Letters of Intent to print.

"Hopefully everyone who has committed will sign,'' said Woodard, close to completing LU's first high school football recruiting class since before the 1989 season, when LU last completed a football season.

Eight of the 30 or so high school seniors expected to sign with college football programs today are committed to Lamar.

Those players are Central's Branden Thomas, Lumberton's Mark Murill, Nederland's Asa Cardenas, Ozen's John Prescott, Port Neches-Groves duo Ryan McLin and Harrison Tatum along with West Brook's Christian Louis and Donte Lopez.
