Bay City blasted in opener 42-0

BAY CITY - The Bay City Blackcats were held to just 86 yards while the Houston St. Pius Panthers won the season opener 42-0 Friday.

Bay City managed just 24 yards rushing on 26 carries and added just 62 yards through the air. The Blackcats also lost three of three fumbles.

St. Pius quarterback Billy Noonan tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Darr Nieuwoudt with 6:59 left in the first quarter. Noonan, who completed 4 of 8 passes for 83 yards and rushed five times of 10 yards, scored twice in the second quarter on a pair of 1-yard plunges with 10:08 and 4:31 left in the half.

Jamail Grimes also returned a fumble 35 yards for a score as the Panther led 25-0 at the half.

Jared Espinoza scored on a 1-yard run with 7:49 left in the third quarter.

Nieuwoudt booted a 30-yard field goal with 7:57 left in the fourth quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, Alex Wisnoski recovered a Bay City fumble in the end zone. Nieuwoudt also kicked three PATs.

Nathan Williams led Bay City with 16 yards on five carries while Shaun Rutherford completed 4 of 11 passes for 50 yards and Fred Agu had two catches for 36 yards.

The fumbles and special teams play killed the city cats.We had 2 fumbles that resulted in SP TD,also 2 bad snaps on punts resuted in 2 TD.We started each drive inside our 20 yd line that just killed us.We just have to get over it and get ready for next week game against Waller hopefully we have our nightmare game out of our system.
