bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Howard just made a HUGE save on a point blank shot 3 minutes in.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Conditions are nasty in Columbus. Off and on showers, 52 degrees, winds between 28-45 mph
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Ching wins a FK just outside the box in the 20th
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Ching wins a FK just outside the box in the 20th Donovan missed by about a foot, and had the keeper beat.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Sanchez makes a nice save on a Dempsey shot in the 30th. still 0-0.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 USA is controlling the game, but Mexico looks a bit more dangerous in the offensive third.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 GOAL! Michael Bradley in the 43rd!
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Great corner kick, donovan heads it back across, Onyewu nice header, great save by Sanchez, but Bradley is there to hammer it home from about 3 feet.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 USA narrowly misses another in the 44th.
BigNEDdog21 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 USA's attack looked alot better towards the end of the half. Pretty good game so far. Dempsey and Howard are playing great.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Still 1-0 in the 52nd. I really like Kliestjan in the midfield.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 62 minutes in, still 1-0 US leads. Shockingly there have been no yellow cards in this game.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 USA gets two HUGE breaks in the 65th minute. first mexico misses a tap in from 6 inches out, and then gets a red card on their captain marquez on a red card for a studs-up challenge on tim howard.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 howard visibly limping a few minutes after the challenge by marquez.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 still up 1-0, 74th minute. the ball is staying mexico's end, and they're playing for the counter attack.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Mexico's first corner of the game comes in the 79th.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Ching hasn't done much for me tonight, but he never really has. Jozy is about to come in (finally)
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 3 minutes of stoppage time added.
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 GOAL! Bradley From 25 out in stoppage time! what a crack! Sanchez probably should have saved it, but it was a nasty shot. US leads 2-0!
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 2-0, US wins! What a result for the States!
bullets13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 The US deserved this one. they played really well, and i felt like they controlled the majority of the game. The stars of the game in my eyes are Bradley, Howard, and Hejduk.
RonBurgundy68 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Donovan was relatively quiet, and Pearce didn't impress me at all... Bradley tore it up as did Frankie as always... Ching had an off night, but he'll be back... Sacha didn't really do as much as I expected him too, but oh well, a win is a win!
bullets13 Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 I usually hate Frankie, but last night he earned his keep. i agree with you about landycakes, and dempsey was kind of invisible as well. Beasley looked rusty, but he created a lot with his speed, which is why we have him on the field.
dogbone Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Dempsey looked really awkward. losing balls on the attack, getting beat on every 50/50 it seemed. Donovan? He played? I would like to see Beasley take people 1v1 more and try to get to the middle just a time or two. It was a win against a team the U.S. should beat. Thats my opinion. Nothing really spectacular in this game for me.
