Joharr73 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 How do ties get broken to determine who goes to the playoffs? Say there is only one spot left. Use this senario: Team Record Head-to-Head Alpha 5-5 1-1 Bravo 5-5 1-1 Charlie 5-5 1-1 Yes, it's a possible senario for 25-1A.

Guest DickVitale Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 That would be a heck of a tie breaker!! It will depend on that districts policy on tie breakers..For example in 20-4A if that were to happen, it would go to points after that...If team A beat team B by more points than B beat A, Team A wins the tie breaker....Hope that helped.

You have a coin flip to determine which team sits and awaits the winner of the other two teams. Then those two playoff to determine that playoff team. 19-4A is doing that in the girls basketball.

Are you positive about that? I ask because I don't know and it may very well happen in 20-4A to determine seeding.
Guest DickVitale Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Not sure if that is EXACTLY the way now, but thats how it was before...What scenario are you speaking of? girls or boys?
TopHat31 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Boys. 3 way tie for second right now.
Guest nostradamus Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Happened to me my first year as a head coach. Tatum, Gilmer, and Jefferson all end up tied. District Tri-Champions. Coin flip to determine a bye. Gilmer wins coin flip. Tatum and Jefferson play on a Thursday night. Tatum wins and plays Gilmer on Friday night. Tatum beats Gilmer and is #1 seed BUT....since Gilmer had the bye and lost in the "championship game" they had to turn around and play Jefferson on Saturday to determine #2 and #3 see. Jefferson beats Gilmer for #2 seed. Quite a weekend there. Gilmer went from having the advantage to #3 seed in 48 hours.

If the schedule plays out with no upsets, there will probably be a two way tie to break but not a three way. The remaining schedule favors a two way tie for second between Nederland and the winner of fridays game between Central and Livingston. In order for there to be a three way tie the winner of that game would then have to be upset in the final game as well as Nederland being upset in one of it's two final games. It could happen if the stars align but is not likely. Livingston 8-4, 20-9 Central @Vidor Central 8-4, 17-10 @Livingston PN-G Nederland 8-4, 20-11 Vidor @Lumberton
