The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men’s basketball team let one slip away Saturday in the Carl Parker Center, where they faced Region XIV rival Angelina College.

Lamar State played a flawless first half, leading by as many as 17 points at one juncture.

The Seahawks were up by eight points, 46-38, at halftime on the strength of sophomore forward George

Williamson’s 16 points, which including four three-pointers.

Angelina came out more focused in the second half and held Williamson scoreless.

But the Seahawks continued to lead until the three-minute mark and ended up losing, 60-57.

Ervin Spuriel led the Roadrunners with 21 points, while Ernest Wafer added 11.

Lamar State freshman forward Adrian Fontenot had 17 points to lead the Seahawks, who won the rebounding battle on both ends of the floor, but couldn’t make those important shots at the end of the game.

Lamar State drops to 8-16 overall and 1-14 in Region XIV.

The win broke a two-game losing streak for the Roadrunners.

Lamar State returns to the road Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game at Blinn College in Brenham.

Yet I would still rather be at and cheer for LU than LSC-PA!!!! ;) ;)

Personal choice...No problem with that at all.  As long as you know how bad LU and the Southland conference really is, and sounds like you have accepted that as well!!  :D
