Lazeek Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 MVP----Most Valuable Player I would have to say that it is a two horse race. Robinson from Silsbee and Benard from HJ. Obviously my opinion is biased some what!!!! ;) Robinson does some things better than Benard and Benard does some things better than Robinson. HJ is where they are because of Benard. He has less weapons around him and the Hawks rely on him more because of that reason. If you take Benard away from HJ then HJ is not the same team and would struggle to make the playoffs. Robinson has more weapons and he is not relied on as much as Benard is. Silsbee did struggle in a few games when Robinson was out. However Silsbee is deeper and Robinson although a great player is not as important to Silsbee is Benard is to HJ. I would say that Benard is more important to his team and say that he deserves the MVP!!!!! Actually it would be great to share instead of having to give it to one and not the other as both are very deserving.

ForeverADog Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I think if Silsbee wins tonight they should give it to Robinson since he would have led his team to an undefeated district season. You cant argue with results. However if HJ wins tonight I think I would give it to Bernard for the reasons stated earlier by Lazeek.
Lazeek Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Benard and Robinson split the 4 games they played last season and Robinson won it last year. Last year Silsbee was not as deep and HJ was deeper. This season the rolls are reversed.
setxslam Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Honorable mention, and front-runner for MVP next year: Jacoby Turner. This year, my vote's for Jarvis.

Master T Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Robinson will win it! Last year Robinson was offensive mvp and Benard was district MVP
McLovin Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Robinson stands out like no other on the court.
Rockin A Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Jarvis '08 is better than Jarvis '09. I vote him co-MVP with Robinson. Jacoby Turner is not far behind.
bone Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 IF YOU LOOK AT SCORES OFF DEFENSE THEN J TURNERS YOUR MAN
bullets13 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 IF YOU LOOK AT SCORES OFF DEFENSE THEN J TURNERS YOUR MAN whatever. he only had like 26 steals tonight. ;D
Guest tigersvoice Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Jarvis '08 is better than Jarvis '09. I vote him co-MVP with Robinson. Jacoby Turner is not far behind. After what I saw tonight, I might support a Jarvis / Jacoby co-MVP.

Well, I didn't want to appear as a "Homer" too much, so I didn't mention Shannon. The young man does have a basketball sense about him when he's on the court, doesn't he?
HJ_ALL_THE_WAY Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Im all for a shannon/jarvis co-MVP and jacoby defensive MVP
Lazeek Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Im all for a shannon/jarvis co-MVP and jacoby defensive MVP I agree!!!!!
setxslam Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 In our loss to Silsbee, Jacoby sat with early foul trouble. Tonight Jacoby flew pretty darn high. Did he put on a show?
Guest stevenash Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 How often to you see a kid of Jacobys size block that many shots, make that many steals, and score that often through a jungle of people 4 to 6 inches taller than he is? I stand behind my earlier post a week or so ago when I said I was very confident that Mr. Turner will compare quite favorably with whomever Silsbee replaces Robinson with next year. McLovin, surely you would not be interested in "disproving" my contention, would you?
McLovin Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Not really, I have no need to look to next year at the moment. I still feel confident that the team I support has every advantage to make it to Austin. I'll meet you here this fall.

Doesn't that work both ways?
