Deweyville whips EC; OF will face WO-S in Vidor Friday

The Deweyville Pirates wrapped up their season with an impressive 74-64 District 23-2A victory over playoff-bound East Chambers Tuesday night at Pirate Gym.

In other news, the third-place playoff spot out of District 21-3A will be up for grabs Friday night between the Orangefield Bobcats (19-14, 5-5) and the West Orange-Stark Mustangs (21-11, 5-5).

The two will play at 7 p.m. at Vidor High School.

In the Deweyville win, senior post Dalton Estes finished with flair for the Pirates (15-17, 5-7), putting together a monstrous double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots.

COlby Caswell pumped in 19 points for the Pirates. Eric Avila filtered in 12 points. Seth Williams had eight points and five assists. Keeton Addison contributed eight points and seven boards while Garrett Haney had five points and five rebounds.

In other action Tuesday, District 20-4A champion Beaumont Ozen (23-5, 13-1) downed the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 51-38 to close out the regular season. Hunter Gonzales led the Bears (13-18, 5-9) with 10 points. DeCarlos Frank led the Panthers with 16 points while Breon Johnson added 12.

In other 20-4A action Tuesday Nederland (22-11, 10-4) downed Lumberton (6-28, 1-13) 82-37; Beaumont Central (18-11, 9-5) toppled Port Neches-Groves (15-16, 6-8) 42-35 and Livingston (22-9, 10-4) dropped Vidor (9-23, 2-12) 66-46.

There are two logjams to decide playoff seeding out of District 21-3A.

The Bobcats (19-14, 5-5) downed the Mustangs (21-11, 5-5) 35-33 at Mustang Gym. Tuesday. The Mustangs defeated the Bobcats 60-44 in Orangefield earlier in district play.

Both Hardin-Jefferson and Silsbee are tied for the district crown after H-J (32-5, 9-1) waltzed into Silsbee (22-7, 9-1) and defeated the Tigers 67-64. Also in 21-3A play, the Bridge City Cardinals (16-19, 1-9) warpped up their season with their first 21-3A win by spanking the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns (11-21, 1-9) 80-56.

In District 23-2A play, the Anahuac Panthers (22-7, 11-1) and Kountze Lions (20-10, 11-1) wrapped up the regular season tied for first after the Panthers ran over Hardin (3-24, 2-10) 99-36 and the Lions ripped Buna (7-18, 3-9) 73-41.
