Guest patriot117 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 GCM - 14 Rayburn - 15 The Patriots take second in the Humble Booster Tournament. Poor defense dooms the young Patriots who commit 6 errors. Soph. Kendal Wilkerson got the start and lasted 2 innings before turning the ball over to Fresh. Alex Martinez. Martinez served up several ground balls, but the middle infield could not find the handle. Jr. Mason Ball would take over in the 5th and 6th. Fresh. Michael Martinez would take over in the 7th with a 2 run lead that the Texans would erase with some timely hitting a several Patriot miscues. The Goose was lead at the plate by Soph. Price Jacobs who finished the game going 3 for 4 with two doubles and a single. Jr. Taylor O'Conner and Jr. Cody Butler also had good days at the plate. GCM Jr Jason Savioe worked a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 7th, but consecutive K's and a caught stealing by the pinch runner would end the game with Jacobs at bat with a 2 and 1 count. GCM will be in action at home on Tuesday.
bronco12 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Congradulations to Memorial for a great outing. From what I heard there were dropped fly balls, past balls as well as mistakes from several other kids but overall a good outing overall for the tournament.Lets not forget this is a team game.Good luck on the rest of your season.
Guest patriot117 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 I did not place blame on ANY individual. There where a ton of mistakes. The outfield play was terrible on both teams. The high sky and strong winds wreaked havoc on a fly ball. However, for whatever reasons, our middle infield had an off day. I think they would be the first to tell you that too. We'll learn from these tournaments and, as of right now, we are undefeated in district 19-4A and that is ALL that matters. Don't get me wrong, we know what lies ahead. It's going to be a tough row to hoe. But I can assure you that Coach Rupp will have his team ready to play.
