The Orange Leader

The 2008-09 Orange County basketball season produced plenty of moments to remember during a campaign that certainly produced a youth movement.

On the girls’ side of the ledger, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats captured yet another District 21-3A crown. They tied Hardin-Jefferson for the regular season title and then downed the Lady Hawks in a battle for the district’s No. 1 playoff seed before falling to a stout Navasota squad in the area round of the 3A playoffs.

In District 20-4A, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears earned their first playoff spot since 2001 when they placed fourth in the district standings and then they fell to Barbers Hill in the 4A bidistrict playoff round.

On the boys’ side, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs rebounded from a 10-21 season a year ago to go 22-12 for Coach Zack Quinn as they nabbed the third-place playoff slot out of a rugged District 21-3A.

It was a tremendous ride and we can’t wait for another season to roll around come November.

As always, it wasn’t easy picking the All-Orange Leader teams because all 10 of our teams had plenty talent.

So without further ado, here is the 15th Annual All-Orange Leader Best of the 2007-08 hoop campaign:

Here is the All-Orange Leader Boys Team as selected by the Orange Leader sports staff:

DDavis55, The OL awards are for the entire year, not just district.  You didn't start to play well except for a few games in district.  You were basically nonexistent the last three games of the year, which were the most important for the Mustangs.  I wouldn't come on here unless you are willing to get the attention from it.
