Huntsville 54, Ozen 39 - F

Recommended Posts

It is an easy thing to do when your well coached and have the talent to do it. Why do you think no one uses it in higher levels of basketball, because everyone is better and coaches know that you give up easy layups. Once they realize the team can't be rattled by the press most teams abandon it. Yates may be hard headed and keep pressing, which will help Huntsville have a very high fg% because it will be dunks and layups all night.

You gotta come out of those woods. Most of the Yates starters have been playing on nationally recognized summer basketball teams. No pressure for them at all.

Yeah he may have a point there...I mean, they have only won 30 GAMES pressing!!! (who is this guy?  ???) Dude, I have seen Livingston play...Yates will beat that team by 30+...GUARANTEED....I know you love your Huntsville Hornets, but Friday or Saturday the season ends for them too....really.

Dick - Aren't you the one who prognosticated Huntsvilles season to end last night.  54-39 was not only incorrect but resoundingly so.

I stand corrected but do i understand you correctly that Yates will provide a "guaranteed"30+ point win, over Huntsville,  right?( and I still believe that somewhere in these threads, perhaps a few days ago, you said something like "Ozen is good enough to beat Huntsville but not Yates)

Could be the other team was better this particular night.

that was not at all the case

Oh, that's right. No one is ever better than Ozen when they get beat. Ozen beats themselves. ::)

basically they have been knocked out the playoffs the last five years from beating themselves

04-05 season lost to wheatley while being ranked 9 in the nation, 05-06 lost to brenham(i think it was) on a last minute three point shot, 06-07 lost to SOC in the state championship run, 07-08 lost to yates by 2 while having a 17 point lead in the first half of the game and this years lost to huntsville when you think about yes ozen beat themselves every year not too many teams in the state will just flat out beat ozen because their better than them PERIOD

The team I support lost about 15 games this year..I would say we beat ourselves in 14 of those games...The one team that really beat us..Nevermind, we beat ourselves in all 15..Nobody beat us this year and after thinking about it, nobody has ever beaten us before...Does that mean we are undefeated???? okay we are undefeated and nobody has ever beaten us before and nobody ever will.....Try and understand the game please...S..t happens..and then you lose it's okay and the sun ends up coming up and YOU CAN SAY...The other team was JUST BETTTTTTTTTerrrrrr...

    • This is good info. It doesn’t really break out for student athletes though. LP & (I think) DP are open enrollment because of the way the towns intertwine. That’s the way it’s been for many years anyway. I assume it still is that way. The kids have a choice after Jr. High to go to either High School because LPISD has elementary schools in DP. As I recall, DP didn’t want to build out more (Robin Hood issues), and so DPISD & LPISD came to an arrangement because LPISD is one of the highest givers to Robin Hood in the state, and it helped both keep more funds in district. Of course, LPISD is open to all. Not just DP, and LPISD is rated well. So, I assume they have kids from elsewhere also. Not positive though. They used to have a lot because—for decades—DeWalt was the only dedicated public school in the GHA that specifically catered to special needs kids. Families from all over enrolled. But, they didn’t participate in extracurricular activities like sports. So, LP’s total enrollment made them 6A. But, they were really a 5A school all along for sports program sake. This is all as best as I can recall from when I was more involved in school issues. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. My kids have been out for 20 years.
    • Our playoff rivalry. They hold a 6-5 edge in the series. I think Newton continues the win streak in a hard fought contest. What say y’all?
    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
