j_dog Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 If one keeps picking against a team, the odds are he will eventually be right. ;D I believe this loss is the beginning of the end for Jasper. They have yet to win a big game on the road and with 4 of their last 7 being on the road, I think it will cost them a spot in the playoffs. But what's new, I predicted they would not make the playoffs anyway. Here's their schedule: 2008-09 Jasper Bulldogs ACUTAL SCORES; Nov. 18 - Big Sandy Nov. 25 - @ Coldspring Dec. 2 - San Augustine Dec. 4-6 - @ Big Sandy Tournament Dec. 9 - Kountze Dec. 11-13 - @ Brookshire Royal Tournament Dec. 16 - Livingston Dec. 19 - Silsbee Dec. 29-31 - @ Bridge City Tournament Jan. 2 - Carthage* close win Jan. 6 - @ Hudson* loss Jan. 9 - Huntington* win Jan. 13 - Rusk* win Jan. 16 - @ Pollack Central* win Jan. 20 - Diboll* close win Jan. 23 - @ Center* loss PREDICTIONS: Jan. 27 - @ Carthage* (potential loss) Jan. 30 - Hudson* (loss) Feb. 3 - @ Huntington* (loss) Feb. 6 - @ Rusk* (potential loss) Feb. 10 - Pollack Central* (win) Feb. 13 - @ Diboll* (loss) Feb. 17 - Center* (loss) It's quite possible that Jasper goes 3-4 over the last 7 district games, finishing at 8-6. That won't get them in the playoffs.
jmspears3 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Hey AAW..I think the Bullpups are calling you out. ;D ;D
j_dog Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 Hey AAW..I think the Bullpups are calling you out. ;D ;D yes, the Bullpups are calling him out! Praise Bailey, Praise Spikes, Praise Bailey, Praise Spikes And Bailey did not even have one of his better shooting nights and the little Dogs STILL won! Yes, AAW you did disrespect the Dogs and the entire 18-3a district. You probably still think they could not have made the playoffs out of 21-3a? Well go ahead and pick against the Dogs for tomorrow. Eventually you will get it right. To the Silsbee players and other fans: You all were great. Great team. Great season. Be proud of what you accomplished. Tell'em Beeninnikes. J-Dog has a selective memory. You can use all the excuses you want, the better team, Orangefield, earned the third place spot by defeating Jasper 2 games in a row, one of which was in Jasper. Besides, you state that Jasper "might" have won other districts, not if Orangefield was in it. For the rest of you whinners: "Praise Bailey, Praise Spikes, Praise Bailey, Praise Spikes" There, is that good enough for ya?
KFDM COOP Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Jdog..remember the other night i said Jasper had improved? Remember what you said?
j_dog Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 Jdog..remember the other night i said Jasper had improved? Remember what you said? I don't remember what I said. I said a lot of things recently poking fun at the fans giving Jasper "no chance". Most things I said was meant to be taken as polite sarcasm. If anyone was offended, I apologize. Thank you for for your positive comment about Jasper. But here is how I picked the game in the "Pickems". I think I was the ONLY one on this Board to stand up for the Dogs on the "Pickems". This game was surely a shocker to those people not watching Jasper lately, but it was not a shocker to the Jasper team and the fans who have been watching them get better and better every game and every week. KFDM COOP Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 After i said Jasper had improved you said "very little"
j_dog Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 After i said Jasper had improved you said "very little" Okay. Thanks. I confess. I out and out lied. ;D Now, do you think the Dogs can sneak up on HJ? No, just kidding. I know that HJ respects Jasper. I know their coaches stayed to scout them. They didn't need to scout Silsbee, they already know Silsbee. I will be serious from here on. Maybe.
CATMAN Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Coop the coach some from REDHORSE ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
KFDM COOP Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 If Jasper plays like they did tonight..sure!
Guest spinks Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 If Jasper plays like they did tonight..sure! I am very loyal to hj but after watching the 4 teams tonight, I honestly consider the Hawks to be the underdog tomorrow evening. I think, contrary to popular opinion, Jasper is not the same team that everyone thought they were early in the season.
KFDM COOP Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I agree! I started seeing their stats the last 2 weeks or so and it caught my attention.

The most talented team of the 4 teams that played tonight lost against Jasper IMO.

Perhaps some other variables must be properly intertwined with superior talent to get the job done.
no-look Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 Should be a good game. Both teams have faced stiff competition every game. Jasper could be flat comming of the big win.
j_dog Posted March 7, 2009 Author Report Posted March 7, 2009 Should be a good game. Both teams have faced stiff competition every game. Jasper could be flat comming of the big win. I think Jasper had a flat night last night. Bailey and Stubblefield were missing open three's that normally are gimmes for them. If a few more of those had fallen, it would have been a wide open game. By the way, anyone know what happened with the one three that Stubblefield did hit? It was a clear, no question net swish and the scoreboard did not change. The Jasper coach appealed, but they did not give Jasper the basket.

And this guy handles it for Sam Houston games, what I was told. Terrible! He was constantly having to change fouls, scores, putting the wrong points and/or fouls on the wrong team or player. He did it in both games.
ST413 Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 The scoreboard operator was bad but I believe the score at that point was correct. AT 18-15 Tigers leading jasper hit a three the score went to 21-18 jasper then silsbee hit a three and it went 21-21 when jasper hit the next one they left the score 21-21. they had given jasper 6 for the first one i believe.

I missed the six point jump. But of this I am pretty sure. I think it was Stubblefield who hit the three, and he definitely did not get credit for it on the scoreboard.

I haven't had time to listen to my replay of the broadcast. I will go over it when I get home Sunday and see if I can find the errors. I was asked by some folks at the scoring table at halftime if I could listen to the replay of the first half, but we don't have that capabilities, YET, with our broadcast. I would of have to end the broadcast and start all over.

I do believe that is how it went down. He had put it originally on the Silsbee side then over corrected it on the Jasper side. When Silsbee hit the three to go up 21-18, the scoreboard showed 21-21. That's when Stubblefield hit his three and they just left the score remain as is.

j_dog Posted March 7, 2009 Author Report Posted March 7, 2009 Well, the end finally came for the Dogs. One game away from the state tournament! What a way to go out. Not bad for a team that was not supposed to make the playoffs. Congratulations Dogs. You played hard and with intensity to the very end. We are very proud of you!
