In no particular order... Of the girls I saw this year, here are mine.

* Being a homer, I would say that the three HJ girls would start for any team in this area...  Even though she was not the mvp of the district, I would put up Fontenot from HJ as the mvp ( she seemed to have the best all around game of all the players listed...  She averaged a double double in pts and rebounds for the season and had severla triple doubles and a quadruple double this season....  She can defend from all positions on the floor, rebound, shoot, etc...

I agree with you being a homer, and I agree Fontenot is one of the best in the area, but I did hear good things about Brown of Ozen.  Does anyone know the name of the Sophomore from Livingston that was pretty good? She'd be on my first team.

Yes, you are a homer. ;D While I respect your dedication to 21 3A. You would have loved to have some of the girls from Ozen and Central on your team. I know I would. If we put an allstar team together to run for a state title it would not be with mostly 3A and 2A players.

Wrong!!!!! ;D Alexus Brannon from Ozen is probably the best athlete in this area and yes she can play basketball. Not to mention a few girls from Central. Yes, if you put mainly 3A and 2A together they would win 2A and down but not 3A and up. Navasoto by themselves would beat any team in this area.

My vote is for A'Lexus Brannon of Ozen.  Best Defensive Player in 4a in my opinion even though coach did not nominate. Believe it or not she can dunk a basketball!

Round About Averages:

Points per Game:  14

Blocked Shots per Game: 5 (Coach says that's not defense. LOL)

Assist: 4

Alright knuckleheads!  If you read, it said "of the girls I saw..."  I didn't get to see Central, and saw Ozen only once

hahaha

"Knucklehead" I have not heard that word in a long time. I heard knuckle sandwhich the other day. Hey hawk when are going to change your avatar? Because those bobcats pretty much knocked those hawks out of the air and then fed the remains to the bobkittens. ;D ;D ;D

to the setxsports girls basketball board members or whoever make up this poll. These nominations should consist of all SOUTHEAST TEXAS ATHLETES. Seems to me its a Hardin County poll. i think if you would venture out and watch other teams play you will see that there is more than just the teams in your county who has the talent to play ball. as far as your selections how can u select a state finalist coach as coach of the year and not any of his players to make your team.?? When they are recognized as MVP OF THE DISTRISCT, 3 1ST TEAMS, and 1 2nd TEAM, ALL REGION, ALL STATE ALL-TOURNEY, AND BETTER THAN THAT ALL STATE, but they're not good enough for your setx polls. As far as knowing them by name their listed in all of your local newspapers as well as the TABC, TGCA, UIL, and any other poll connected to the UIL State Tournament. i think that it is a disgrace to the Woodville Girls Basketball Team to have their C

How can u have the decency to nominate him but not any of his girls? how is that possible? who did he coach? how could he have made it without a team?

Then freaking nonimate them!! THERE'S AN IDEA. Get off your high horse please.  Not many people have even watched Woodville play this year, are you serious?  After all that YOU STILL DIDN'T NONIMATE ANYONE.  ::)

If you want them on the team NONIMATE THEM YOURSELF I don't know not ONE girl from Woodville.  ::)

    • It’s behind a paywall but here’s Baytown Sun’s story on it.  It was reported on in other papers statewide so if you search by the date I think you’ll find other stories on it. UIL strengthens student transfer rules By Ron McDowell [email protected] Oct 18, 2024   In order to maintain a level playing field for all member schools, the University Interscholastic League strengthened rules regarding transfer student eligibility at its most recent meeting in Austin. Every year thousands of students transfer schools in the state of Texas. A student’s ability to participate in UIL sanctioned activities may be limited base on the reasons for the transfer. A change in family status, work transfers, enrollment in an academic magnet program, or a move across town, receive scrutiny, but only rarely does one of these reasons result in the loss of eligibility. The only reason to automatically cause the loss of participation eligibility is a transfer for athletic purposes. The current rule, which has been in place since 1981, does not require a Previous Athletic Participation Form (PAPFs) to be submitted if the student-athlete does not participate in a varsity level sport during the first year of enrollment. There has been growing concern among some member schools, that other members are breaking the current rule and creating “super teams” with new transfer enrollees, and that the UIL is not doing enough to police, what appear to be, the inordinate number of transfers among high school athletes. To mitigate these concerns, the UIL approved a proposal to expand the power of the State Executive Committee (SEC) and allow it to investigate schools based upon the number of PAPFs submitted. Schools that submit an inordinate number of PAPFs would face heightened scrutiny and possible public reprimand and future sanctions. The UIL has also changed the requirements for PAPF submission, mandating that the form be submitted before a grade 9-12 transfer student may participate at any level of school athletics. This is a marked departure from the current policy which encourages schools not to complete PAPFs for students who transfer in, if the school believes that the student will not play a varsity sport in the first year the student is enrolled at the new school. Some critics of the current system think that the change doesn’t go far enough. Speaking on background, one local school district source suggested that there should be an automatic year wait for transfer students due to the number of loopholes in the waiver process. “If a student transfers, it should be a year out of competition automatically,” the source said. In addition, the UIL also approved a proposal that gives the SEC the power to appoint an independent administrator to oversee the conduct of the local District Executive Committee (DEC) if it is determined that the DEC is not consistently enforcing the rules of the governing body. The change is significant since all appeals that a school brings, starts and usually ends with the DEC. That includes the determination of transfer student eligibility. It is believed that with the implementation of this change, schools in a UIL district will be less likely to face retribution from the DEC chair and other members. • I was hoping WOS was going to win. To get another chance to redeem ourself. Silsbee did not look good in that game and has not played consistent during the season. Hopefully against La Vega they will play 4quarters of football
