To all of the doubters.........

To all of those who doubted HJ this season whether it was the fact that they had no depth, they were too young, only three good players, 4 losses at home, lost to Nederland, lost to Kingwood Park, lost to Central, lost to Silsbee twice, weren't battle tested and would not make it through Liberty, Navasota, Cleveland, Hudson and then Jasper.  Need I remind each and every person that every Hawk loss this year came to a team that made the playoffs in their respective districts!!!!

This group of kids has more heart, desire, discipline and puts forth more effort than any other HJ team that I have ever seen!!!!!  The job that Todd, Clay and Jeff did this year proves that they are the best coaching staff in SE Texas........bar none!!!!!   

The Hawks once again will have doubters since they did not get to face Silsbee in the playoffs, but I look at it this way.........HJ beat the team that beat Silsbee by 9 points tonight and Jarvis Benard proved that he is the best player and should be the MVP of district 21-3A!!!!!  HJ will have their hands full in Austin, but they have had their hands full since the hoop season started back in the late fall!!!!!

I applaud Coach Sutherland, his staff and his players for making this one of the best season's to be a Hawk fan.  You can't win them all, but they seem to win the one's that matter the most up to this point.  I will be pulling for you guy's in Austin this week.  Take the momentum and continue to get the job done Hawks!!!!  Congrats on being Regional Champs for the 7th time in school history after everyone doubted you and best of luck in Austin!!!!

Jarvis imposed his will on this game.  Too bad he was completely spent at the end of the game. There he was, the only Hawk making free throws throughout the playoffs, and he was so exhausted he missed his last three free throw attempts--when it didn't matter any more--and had to settle for 29 points on the night.  Jarvis is, in my book, District, Regional, and State 3A MVP.

Not bad for a down year.

Congrats to Hardin-Jefferson! You guys have definetly earned your way to Austin. The Hawks had the toughest road to the Final Four in defeating Navasota, Cleveland, Hudson, and a very hot Jasper team. It's a true testament of a well coached and determined team.

Congrats again. Now go represent Southeast Texas and Region III and bring back another state title.
