Bobcat55 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I think Buna wins this one due to numbers. Burkeville has several players that are playing on both sides of the ball and i feel that they will be spent and the large Buna o-line will wear them out. JMO
AstrosDawg07 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Burkeville 20 Buna 6 This game in Buna?
zilla Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I'll have to agree with NeverSayDie on this one Burkeville 20 Buna 6
Guest Wildcat 08 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I will go with Buna because of numbers.
mustangfan Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 im not sure about this one. burkeville has a really young team that i have heard is improving every day. i think it will be a tough game because of the numbers difference, and hopefully burkeville can show something.
Guest Kelly Football Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Buna wins this one big. I predict 35-14.
duckbutter Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Just because a team has a numbers advantage doesn't mean that they will win. Newton never had the numbers in 3a but still managed ti win a whole lot of games. Burkeville will bring the speed that Buna is not used to seeing. Burkville by 8
mustangfan Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 i think there is a huge difference between a big 3a team vs a small 3a team game, and a big 1a (or 2a in this case) vs a small 1a. u can be a small 3a school and still have 40 to 50 kids come out and be able to pick the 20 best. most 1a schools, especially burkeville, has to take what it can get, i know they have around 23 kids on varsity, and thats what they get, theres no jv team, the 23 that wanted to play football are playing football, and the coaches and players make a team with that. theres alot better chance of getting 20 talented kids out of 40-50, than there is picking 20 out of 23. thats why i think 1a is the hardest classification to repeat a champ.
mustangfan Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 also let me add that newton and other schools that consistently go 2 or 3 rounds deep every year are just lucky to have talented kids year in and year out. i think newton has kids that are just so fast and talented and the fact that barbay runs a weird but great offense that brings out the best in the players.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Burkeville by 20+, numbers dont matter when theres talent in every one of those jerseys.

Coaching is 80% of the game. Newton kids just don't think they can lose and have complete faith in the system. Plus we have some mean a$$ coaches that work the kids like dogs so that they are prepared when it is time to play. Come watch a Newton practice and see just how brutal and physical it is. I bet the only other school in this area that practices like that is WOS, and you see the results.

Hull-Daisetta has those same brutal practices thanks to Coach Barbay's son running the show down here. Most of our kids play both ways and get better as the game goes on. Conditoning is a valuable asset in small school ball. We're trying to bring back that "we will not lose" attitude that the Bobcats used to have, something Newton, WO-S and a few other teams have year in year out.
Ex-Card-86 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006  WOW! How about those Cougars! Seems they always pull off a big one each year. I was shocked at the 47-6 score. I remember a couple years ago them coming down here to BC and beating us 8-2. Congrats Coogs.
Champion Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 I was off a lot on this one!!!!!!!! Way to go Cougars!!!
