jdawg03 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 There are rumors going around that he may get some playing time Sat. Anyone heard this?
adminbaberuth Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 That would be great for the area. Someone from WOS should have some scoop on this?
Guest GoStangs Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Here's my official guess: Maybe. He's listed at #3 on the depth chart at right cornerback, but could see some playing time this weekend. He may suit out for the game, but I'd be (very pleasantly) surprised if he gets playing time this weekend.
adminbaberuth Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Deon has opted to red-shirt. If Deon Beasley is a redshirt, UT should be in another league.
jdawg03 Posted September 7, 2006 Author Report Posted September 7, 2006 He is a redshirt...but that doesnt mean the coaching cant take it off...In light of the recent developments at UT, it wouldnt surprise me
AggiesAreWe Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Why is it such a suprise that Beasley redshirted? The great Vince Young redshirted his first year. To me it is actually beneficial for an athlete to redshirt his first year just to get his feet on the ground.
mustangs_2007 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 beasley was redshirted but they took him off of it because of the situation and i heard he is number 2 on the depth charts thats what earl thomas told me
wosmustangs Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Fact - Beasley has decided to red-shirt. As of yesterday after practice, this is STILL firm. There are others on the team who are older and have much more experience at this point. Fact - to jdawg's point; coaches can say get your tail in the game at any moment due to situations. However, that's HIGHLY unlikely at this point........
WOS92 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Why would he redshirt? Well, with experienced guys locked into the position this year, it will give him more time to play in the future.
shellman54 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 read in the houston chronicle about who was going to replace brown, and beasley was not mentioned, but about 6 other players were. so i am assuming the redshirt is still intact.
JohnnyT60 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I hope he redshirts, because if Brown returns, he won't get much playing time in the future. Why Redshirt? cause your going to be better in your 5th year than you were in your first.
Lucky Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Why is he playing Defense anyway ? He was born to play OFFENSE !
Guest Jody Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Why is he playing Defense anyway ? He was born to play OFFENSE ! Too small.
WOS92 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Mack Brown didn't seem to think so. What about this guy? Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) 5-9, 185 Beasley is every bit as athletic as SS, and could easily bulk up to his weight. He was a standout at WR in the Army All-American Game, which is what made Brown say he would try him some at WR.
Lucky Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Speed and athleticism make up for size and he has both. Plus, he will put on some pounds. Everybody puts on size in college. But this kid is special when he touches the ball. His ability to change directions at top speed and look so natural is something to see.
woshigh Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I can't imagine how good he is going to be by the time he is a junior........ He just has to stay healthy.
shorttexas1 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Beasly won't get any run this year he should redshirt because of the quality depth at corner and wide out for UT. Has anyone noticed that Robert Joseph (freshman from Memorial) is the number 2 safety. Did you see him put that guy out of the game last week. He is a real head hunter!
