I'm sure this has been asked but could not find it.  I am also asking an "in general" question because I know it's specific to the kid, but here it goes.  My son is 8, playing first year kid pitch. About what size and plan on picking it up at Academy. What do you guys recommend. He has a good fast swing.

My son is a 7 year old who I would say is a fairly strong hitter.  He just got a new bat yesterday and it is a 28 inch 18 oz bat.  I had people tell me that brand and style did not matter, but I will tell you it does.  He had a cheaper bat last season and I got him a new one last season and it made all the difference in the world.  Don't buy a cheap bat Chippy...........spend the money and get a new good bad.  I have become a huge fan of the Louisville Slugger TPX bats.  Can your kid use Big Barrell????

Louisville Slugger TPX bats??  Can I get them at Academy? Forgive my stupidity, what is big barrell?

Little League requires a bat with a diameter of no more than 2 1/4 inches.  Pony and select allow larger bat diameters, usually 2 5/8 or 2 3/4.

My son plays PONY and he just got the New Louisville Slugger TPX Triton 28/18 and it has a 2 3/4 inch barrell and they have it at Academy.  But they did not have his size so I had to order it on line.  FREE SHIPPING AND NO TAX ALSO!!!! ;) ;)
