Guest patriot117 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 If a player hits into a fielder's choice for the 3rd out of an inning, is it an official at bat?
baseball4life09 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Yes its an at bat and it goes against his avg. Just as it would any other time and it not considered a fielders choice but a ground out if I'm not mistaken

Two outs, runners on first and third, batter hits the ball to 3rd baseman who forces the runner out at 3rd to end the inning. The batter is charged with an official AB and it is ruled as a ground out to the batter?
baseball4life09 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Yeah whether it be a ground or a fielders choice both hurt his avg. Because he grounded out to 5. Its scored as a G-5

If that was the case, it is not a force at 3rd.

baseball4life09 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Then it would be scored as either 5-6 or 5-4 depending on who received the throw
Guest Silsbee88 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Then it would be scored as either 5-6 or 5-4 depending on who received the throw That is correct, but should be 5-4 since the ball is hit to 5, but some coverages would make for a 5-6.
