**BC vs WOS Updates...12-0 BC Wins**

Recommended Posts

WO-S overmatched in this one. The new kid for BC that started was the real deal, has great mechanics and threw the ball well. Bridge City never just crushed anything that Anderson threw, that has to be a concern for later in the season. BC hit a couple of balls well, very nice execution on the sac flies. WO-S just doesn't have it all there yet, they kill themselves fundamentally and their pitchers run way too many 3 ball counts.

Kellogg was wild early but got outs when he needed to.  WO-S left the bases loaded in the 1st and 2 runners on on the 2nd. He settled down after that and breezed through the next 2 innings.  Maybe he had a case of the nerves in his first start for BC.  Overall he looked to be another dominant pitcher to go along with Hicks.

Good job and glad that you guys are having a good year. From the sounds of it your new Coach is doing a great job much to the chagrin to a few but happy for him and the boys. You guys are going to be a load come playoff time and cannot wait to see you'all.

WO-S by 9????  :D Good game BC, Glad to see the bats are starting to come around right when we need them to. Kellog looked good tonight, just like I expected, he's deffintley gonna be a positive boost to this team, it was good seeing he's a good hitter too, I like him in that 2 spot.. This was a really good game tonight, but now we have to look on to playing at Orangefield on Friday, Don't know what to expect seeing they lost Statum and lost to Silsbee tonight but we can't take anyone for granite and have to continue to play like we did tonight....

Kellogg, Bridge City power past WO-S, 12-0

Gabriel Pruett

The Orange Leader

WEST ORANGE — Welcome to Bridge City Caleb Kellogg.

Kellogg, a transfer from Louisiana, started his first game for the Cardinals and it was a gem as the Cardinals defeated the West Orange-Stark Mustangs, 12-0.

Kellogg went 4 1/3 innings for the Cardinals (15-2-1, 3-0) and allowed no runs on one hit with seven strike outs and one walk.

He also was 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs, singling off the first pitch he saw from WO-S (8-9, 1-2) starter Zane Anderson.

“I was a little nervous in the first inning,†Kellogg said.

Bridge City coach Chad Landry agreed Kellogg was nervous yet the first-year Cardinals coach was pleased with the pitcher’s effort and the rest of the team.

“Caleb settled down and I thought he threw his fastball very well,†Landry said. “Later he found his curveball. All in all I thought it was a great game for us. We put the ball in play early, put some pressure on them and found some holes. We finally got the hits we have been needing.â€

The Cardinals broke the game open quickly after scoring six runs in the top of the first.

Luke Rhodes came up with the first big game of the night with a two-RBI single to right scoring Joe Robertson and Kellogg.

Blake Hubbard then made it 3-0 Cardinals with a RBI single to center to score Matt Hicks.

Rhodes then scored when Grant Encalade grounded out to short.

Dylan Mulhollan made it 5-0 with a RBI single to left to score Hubbard.

Dustin Breaux scored the Cardinals sixth run of the inning when Anthony Cessac hit a RBI single to right.

The Mustangs loaded the bases in the bottom of the first only to leave three on the bases.

Hubbard and Encalade each drove in their second runs of the game in the top of the second on sacrifice flies to make it 8-0.

Cessac scored himself in the top of the third after singling and scoring on a balk.

Kellogg scored for the second time of the night to make it 10-0 after a RBI single by Hubbard.

Jared Raggio made it 11-0 in the top of the fourth after he walked and came in to score when Clay Edwards reached base on an error.

Daniel Wallace scored the Cardinals’ last run when Cameron Dishon collected his first varsity RBI on a walk.

Clayton Gearhart and Justin Sparrow had the two hits for the Mustangs.

WO-S put runners on second and third in the bottom of the second only to have the next three batters strike out.

The Mustangs return to action Friday with a road trip to Sour Lake to face the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks while Bridge City will hit the road to face the Orangefield Bobcats.

I want to say something which hasn't been said about these two teams.

Both teams have the coaches that need to be there. Coach Riojas and his staff have done an amazing job with WO-S this year. The whole attitude of that team has changed and it is exactly what the Mustangs needed.

Chad Landry and his BC staff obviously are doing a great job. The Cardinals were struggling at the plate coming in yet these players have found a way to be 15-2-1. Coach Landry puts them in a position to win and the players have bought in.

Kudos to both staffs.
